NST?
I believe it stands for non stress test. I had them only with my daughter because the third vessel of he umbilical cord was small. I did not have them with my other two kids. I went into labor and delivery and the hooked me up to monitors to see if I was having contractions and one to monitor my daughters heart rate. Then I was given a button to push every time I felt her move. I went once a week the last month of my pregnancy. It may have changed since I had mine. My daughter is now 7.
My OB makes me do an ultrasound, NST, and an OB appt weekly. (since 32 weeks.) She is being extra careful since I got pregnant at only 2 months post op. NST stands for non stress test. They put this belt type think around your stomach to measure contractions if any. They put a second belt around you to measure the baby's heartbeat. They also have you hit this button every time the baby moves. The machine then records the baby's heart rate on this piece of paper that prints out the entire time you are on the machine. It is really non invasive and pretty boring but it is nice to hear the baby. I have heard hiccups a few time! That was neat! I don't think they do this for every pregnancy but I do know they do it when you get to the hospital for birth just to see how the baby is being affected by the contractions.
