Spoke w my nutritionist about Vits during Pregnancy!
So my NUT emailed me, and this is her recommendation:
1 MVI w iron- chewable- in addition to prenatal- take at a diff time of day
500 mcg b12
Ferro-sequel for iron- 50 mg w stool softener
300 mg DHA
Im not sure what DHA is, or if this iron is something I can buy over the counter, or if it's a script, so I emailed her those ?'s. If any of you know, please left me know.
:)

Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
I wouldn't do the ferro-sequel only because carbonyl doesn't constipate (but many many don't even know what carbonyl is and thus why many don't even recommend it) -- but yes, it's available OTC in a limited number of places.
DHA is something to help fetal brain development.
You got calcium squared away, yes?

I took Prenate DHA for a prenatal vitamin and it never bothered my stomach. However, I wanted to change since it was $20/month rather than $5 like the other one my doctors office recommended so I bought just DHA pills and they made me extremely gassy and my stomach hurt so bad from them. So, just FYI since there are quite a few individuals that have issues with vitamins while pregnant.

I took a prescription prenatal vitamin with DHA during my pregnancy. Now I take a prescription prenatal without DHA but take two Mother's DHA daily (made by Carlson--very pure and no fish burps). For B12, I use a sublingual methylcobalamin B12. For iron, I take the Solgar brand--non-constipating and chelated for better absorption. All three are available on line or through an alternative health store. Make sure your calcium has vitamin D3, not just D--you want to avoid vit D deficiency, especially when pregnant. Everyone is different with different needs, but in addition to the multivitamin, prenatal vitamin, iron, B12, and DHA, I also take extra folate (800 mcg), calcium with Vit D3, and vit D3 drops (4,000 IUs)
