diabetes back again?

So, I had my glucose test last week because I am at 28 weeks. They called me today and said that my number was REALLY HIGH. 215. They said anything over 190 they won't even worry about doing the 3 hour test because its too high and its obvious that i need to be put on insulin.

I am hoping that it is gestational and that it doesn't stay. I am so mad, sad, and confused. I had the gastric to get rid of the diabetes and it went away but now it's back.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, please share.

I don't have any personal experience with diabetes, but I know of several people who have trouble only when they're pregnant. That being said, it doesn't always go away quickly for them! My old boss was diabetic the rest of her life after her second pregnancy, and she was very thin and active. I guess time will tell. It does stink though. Hopefully you'll be able to find some answers. Have you tried monitoring on your own? I know the results from a traditional glucose test can be really off after RNY, so maybe you can compromise with a little at home testing before doing anything drastic. Just a thought. Good luck.

It isn't the same as Type II, it is gestational.  I have it back also with my pregnancies.  Right now it is diet managed for me but I do not do insulin and you should see about not doing it also.  Everyone I know who was put on insulin gained mega weight due to using it.  I used glyburide with my last pregnancy, he is now 18 months, and had excellent results with minimal medication and did not suffer the weight gain.  The extra weight causes more diabetic issues while pregnant too.  See an endocronologist if you have too because insulin is NOT the only safe thing during pregnancy anymore and it would be my last resort to use ONLY if meds do not.
