And people told me I was crazy when I didn't want a drop sided crib.  I guess I am not so crazy now.

we aren't messing with our old crib this time.  just using our arms reach co sleeper til the kid can climb out and then to a toddler bed.  I'm so glad to not have to worry about a crib recall this time around.

Is there really a point to a drop sided crib? I have no problem reaching down to the mattress.

I don't have a drop side, but the top part of Libby's crib does fold down.  If it weren't for that I would not be able to reach her.  I don't consider myself super short either, I'm almost 5'5.  I would have to drop her in the crib if I ever laid her down when she was already asleep LOL

I must have massive long arms then.  LMAO    I don't by the way.    We have the twins mattresses on the lowest possible setting and their cribs don't drop down.   I put them to bed all the time while they are asleep.

Oh and I'm short.  I'm 5'3''   (and a half dammit!)  I'm also shrinking (sob sob sob)

I have a drop side crib, not this brand though, and the little plastic piece did break not too long ago. Luckily, My daughter was old enough to remove the side and do the toddler bed thing, which we have done. The company that made our crib is out of business, so I couldn't get another piece. Maybe I should call and pretend to have one of these for the free kit- maybe it would work. I did like the crib though, but I can see how there would be problems with them! I guess that's a lesson learned for this next time, since we were planning on purchasing two new cribs for the twins....

Yeah, I'm going to say that you shouldn't call to scam for a piece.

I will say that if you haven't picked out your cribs yet, the ones we have were fairly cheap and to my knowledge, have never been recalled.

We bought them from JC Penney for $350-$400 a piece (somewhere in that price range) and they are made by Savannah.  I believe they are exclusive to JC Penney, but who knows.  We also bought Maryn a crib (different style, same brand) from them as well as we have had no problems with the twins cribs.
