Cramps during early pregnancy?
On saturday I had some craping in my left side. The general area of my ovary/uterus. They ran my hcg number, which was at 150. They said untill it is 1000 they cant do a sonogram, because it would be way to small to see anything. I took my numbers again today, and will get the results tommorrow. They said every 72 hours at this point the numbers will double in a healthy pregnancy. So im waiting on a good number tommorrow when they open..
My ? is, have any of you had cramping in early pregnancy and had a healthy baby? The pain is not constant, no kind of discharge or anything like that. She does think I may not be as far along as we thought. It's been 6 years since i've been pregnany, so I cant recall if slight cramping is normal. I still havent seen my actual doctor, and wont untill Jan 8th... So, any advice, or candid honesty, will be sooo welcome!
Thanks guys!
Jen

Take a deep breath! Step away from googling.
It's so so so so hard right now not to worry -- and I can easily tell you to stop worrying, but I was in the same boat as you !! (So do as I say not as a did!)
I had an ectopic in July of last year. In Sept I got pregnant again and I analyzed every stretch, pull, cramp and pain.
YES - I had pains in early pregnancy. Sharp ones. Dull ones. Aching ones. I had minor bleeding (implantation).
I was so afraid I was having another ectopic -- but like you said they won't do an ultrasound until the HCG reachs 1000-1200 and so at this point it's a waiting game.
Try to relax.... I know it's not easy! Keep us updated --

As a side note, I only have my left ovary. 4 months ago I was diagnosed with a tumor on my right ovary, and they thought I would have to have a complete hysterectomy. However he was able to remove just the melon sized tumor and ovary and save everything else... So im scared because the pain is the left side, which is the only ovary I have.. and if they have to take it... Thats it. No more babies. :( How did you find out it was an eptopic? Did you have early symptoms and did they have to take your whole ovary? Sorry im asking these ?, and if they are to hard to answer, I understand! Also, congrats on your successful pregnancy!

Hi Jen,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I am behind on my OH reading!
I actually must have gotten pregnant in late May/Early June and THEN had a period --- it wasn't until about a week or so after my period that I was soooo tired and my boobs hurt that I took a pregnancy test.
I didn't feel pain really....I mean maybe a twinge here and there. It wasn't until the last few days before my ectopic ruptured that I felt pain - a pressure and aching. It was kinda like I'd imagine appendicitis to feel like early on.
My biggest sign of ectopic - looking back on it - was when I would have a bowel movement or uriniate and I'd relax those muscles "down there" it would HURT. A hurt I can't explain. And yet I always felt like I had to have a bowel movement. I felt constipated - even though i was going normally. That is a sign of ectopic, but I didn't realize that until afterwards.
They left my ovary in, but my tube is gone..... so very little chance an egg from my right side would manage to make it to my left tube for fertilization. (I guess there's a small chance....)
Still I managed to have Cooper ! The body is an amazing thing.
Good luck and let us know!

Yes some cramping is normal. If you do start spotting you need to call your dr. That being said, I had mild cramping and spotting at around 4-5weeks, even red blood and all is well. Panicing is so hard not to do, I still panic at different things now but I chilled out a lot.
Just wanted to mention, I went to the ER when my hCg was 1300 and there was nothing to see on an ultra sound except my uterus, no sac, nothing. When my hCg was above 2500 you could see a beating heart and all!

Thank you guys soooo much! Whew! I feel like someone slapped some sense into me! Lol. Seriously though, it is good to know that someone out there has been where I am. Like I said, my lest pregnancy was 6 years ago (I was a surrogate for a some good friends of mine with that one) and I seriously dont remember much! I also feel like im a spaz because this is my first, and probably LAST pregnancy post RNY, and I cant get the thought out of my mind that if anything goes wrong it is my FAULT, because I elected to have the RNY. Horrible thinking I know, because i'm seriously more healthy now then I have ever been... I keep over analyzing everything, like my breasts werent hurting very much this am, and I was scared that it was because something was wrong. (They are making up for it right now lol. Owchie! How one forgets the aches and pains of early preg!) Anyways, thanks again for your answers, and helping me to breath alittle easier! Hopefully I have some good numbers tommorrow.. Will let you know! And thanks for listening! :)

Pain on the left side could be the follicle where the egg came from. I had cramping on the side I ovulated from and I really felt it with my twin pregnancies. When they did the ultasound and 6 weeks she showed me the little "follicules" where the eggs erupted from. They messured them both and said both babies came from my right ovary. I thought that was amazing!! LOL They actually KNOW which ovary!! wow! Anyway, I had crampiness for about up to 6 weeks i think. I believe that follicule resorbs around that time...not exactly sure, but my midwife did say something like that. Maybe whe was just trying to calm me down!! LOL I was a bit of a nervous nelly there for a while. I hope you get good numbers tomorrow. Will be praying and looking for your post. Blessings. -Jen Q.
