Is this "normal"?
SO yesterday I was on my feet alot. when I got home I felt crampy so I sat down, feet up and drank a ton of water. I feel asleep and well this morning I was standing getting ready for work and feeling crampy again - it did get slightly less when I was driving in. I am 14 weeks 4 days. Should I be calling the OB or is this just something normal? They don't open until 8 so I figured I'd get your "been there done that's" first.
Thanks ladies! I am just nervous.
Liz
PS - I am also scheduled to go see my grandparents on friday - it's a 2 1/2 hour drive each way - I'm flying solo - is it a good idea or should I pass this year?

It's hard to say if it's normal without knowing what type of cramps they are. It could be gas. Pregnancy gas pains can feel slightly different than normal ones. It could also just be the round ligament pain or something along those lines.
If you are feeling uncomfortable, definately call the OB, just to be sure. As far as skipping Grandma's house, I wouldn't unless you are truly feeling under the weather.
Hope you feel better soon.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Thanks Ladies - I am a self admitting worry wart! I called the OB's office and actually one of the nurses answered! She was very nice and understanding - she said it is one a few things (most of which you already told me! You ladies are great) round ligament pain, stretching, pelvic bones shifting, muscles stretching and uterus growing. She told me only to worry if I start to bleed or am doubled over in pain. Her reccomendations - tylenol, lots of fluid, resting with feet up and no carrying anything over 10 pounds until I see the Dr in December.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Sounds like you're feeling pretty normal stretching pains --- not just round ligament but the uterus stretching, etc.
My sister-in-law started getting braxton hicks contractions around 4 months with her first..... we were riding in a diabetes bicycle charity event and about half-way through the 20 mile course she was like "I think I'm contracting". My brother tried to make her stop riding, but she wouldn't..... She kept saying she was fine and BH contractions weren't contra-indicated at 16 weeks. She had them the rest of her pregnancy and had an EASY birth (2 hours of labor) at about 39 weeks. (She's a doctor and was out of bed and delivering one of her patients baby's a day after she gave birth.)
She said that having regular BH contractions throughout pregnancy readies the body for labor and the more you have (and sooner you have them) the more ready you'll be.
Don't know if that's true..... but it worked for her. She had her second about 8 minutes after her water broke. My brother fears with the next one he'll end up delivering the baby at home because he won't have time to get her to the hospital.
Keep us updated - and say hi to grandma !!
