seeking advice....
One of the twins criessssss like crazy specially at night, one night after a feeding i heard her stomach making these weird noises, she also spits up alot and the scary thing about it is that
it also comes out of her nose causing her to choke and try to breathe and its scary sight.
i spoke to her ped. and she recommended her milk be changed to Enfamil GentleEase
it was a little better, her tummy noises stopped but the spitting up continues mouth and nose.
She does not seem to get full of the powder milk and its very watery like.
I didnt know what to do i felt bad for her so i swithched her back to the regular enfamil formula
today hubby gave her some of the gentlease by mistake that I had made 2 days ago and left in the fridge, he said while i was out today she woke up screaming from the top of her lungs and the next thing he saw was a whole lot of puke.
she has been fuzzing ever since, kicks and scratches me, stops for a few minutes and starts up again, im calling her doctor tomorrow to see what can be done.
for now im looking for some advice please.
Also she drinks 4ounces of milk every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs....but it seems like
she wants to eat every 1 1/2???????????????????

My daughter had similar issues. I used Mylicon anti-gas infant drops with every feeding for a few weeks, and tapered off slowly. It really made a difference, and they are relatively inexpensive with coupons on the internet. You can ask the ped about it, but it really helped my daughter's digestion. Also, maybe try a soy formula. She may have lactose intolerance, at least for right now while her system is just getting started. If soy still doesn't work, there is Enfamil Nutramagin, which is really expensive but works great for really colicky or fussy babies. It may be worth a shot. Good luck!

sounds like a combo of 2 things... reflux and gas... what bottles are you using? i highly recommend dr browns.. your right.. the powder milk is more watery then the premade... jayson always drank more powder then premade... try all the reflux things... dont lay her down flat after she eats for 30 mins to an hr.. put her in a boppy or her swing/bouncer so shes elevated... sometimes it can take 2 weeks for them to adjust to a new formula esp if their belly has been screwy for so long... also you can try the similac version of the gentleEase... also carniation makes one as well... drs offices will always recommend what they are supplied with... try the mylcon drops.. they are perfectly safe and can be used with every feeding.. for a while i had to put them inside the bottle to make sure he got them... get the dye free.. less messy... poor baby i hope she feels better soon
Lexa said it best!! The only other thing I have to add as something to look into is that My oldest daughter who was a twin used to spit up out her nose and I took her to the ped. a MILLION times. She wouldnt latch on good and the spit up out her nose had me stressed and she CRIED ALL THE TIME!! Well, come to find out AFTER i switched Ped's she has a submucosal cleft palate. So the path of least resistance was out her nasal cavity. Poor thing. Very easy to diagnose and not a big deal...just use the small nipples and be aware that certain foods (when she is bigger) will bother her. You cannot tell by looking at her and her speech is a little nasaly, but that is all. The biggest issue was that she could not nurse and the stupid Dr. kept saying I wasnt trying hard enough. When I finally just gave her the formula in the Dr. Browns she was much better and then the mylecon (sp?) drops and they prescribed something for reflux too. Sorry cant remember the name. She out grew the reflux by 4 months. Hang in there Momma!! It is not easy, just trust yourself. :) Blessings to you.
Ugh - went thru the same thing with Bailey.... so scary and frustrating!!! I tried gentle ease and it made her worse so here is what I did...
Mylcon drops in everybottle then started doing them every other bottle then down to none at all. She slept in her carseat for EVER in the bassinet right next to me. I found the Nestle Good Start Natural Cultures worked the best - I know weird! The hard part is changing formula often makes it worse - but it is hard not too when you feel like something is making your baby sick! My ped told me that they really have to be on it at least a week to see if it makes a difference. Talk to your ped tomorrow and see what she says. In the mean time having her sleep in the carseat will give you peace of mind.

Hey Meleney,
Sorry to hear you are going through this with your baby. I went through this with Everett and I remember feeling so frantic and helpless. It sucked seeing him appear to be suffering and not being able to do anything about it. Here's what we did that worked, and mind you, this was after trying EVERYTHING else:
1) Gripe Water: Either dipping a pacifier in it and letting him suck on it, or giving him a bit with a baby medicine syringe
2) Similiac Sensitive Formula - the RTD variety. Powder caused terrible gas and never mixed right.
3) Prescription Zantac - Reflux/GERD was still there, but not quite as bad. When he spit up/vomited, it didn't appear to bother him quite as much. He outgrew this by 4 months and is no longer on the Rx.
4) Crib elevation: I put a crib wedge under the mattress to elevate his head (30 degrees is ideal). For the pack and play, we propped one end of the pen up. In Everett's case, he also had a breathing issue (TTN), so he had to sleep on his stomach, which aggravated the reflux a bit. The wedge was inexpensive and we've used it for all our kids when they have colds.
5) Upright Feeding: I fed him in a more upright position by elevating my arm on pillows. I kept Everett upright for 20-30 minutes following each feeding. I moved him as little as possible and burped him in between every 2-3 ounces.
6) Smaller Meals: I fed him smaller meals more often. He was better at keeping it down.
Hugs and I'm here if you need to vent!

Chloe spits up thru her nose sometimes also. She freaks out (as does the person feeding her at the time it happens) just like your little one. Like the others have said, make sure you keep her upright for at LEAST 20 minutes after each feeding. Elevate/tilt on end of her crib or whatever she's sleeping in. Our pediatrician suggests the formulas with the added rice starch. I think Enfamil's was the AR, and the Similac is the RS types. They are thicker like gravy and kinda stay down better. We had to put Kellen on the Enfamil AR and Zantac. So far, with keeping Chloe upright after each feeding and elevating one end of her crib, we've been able to keep the reflux down a bit. Also, as much as I hate pacifiers, sucking on one helps keep everything down also.
Good luck! I know it's stressfull...we had a hard time with one baby...now with two it's really tiresome!!!
