Hey everyone!

I am almost 8 weeks along. I am tosing cookies numerous times a day but because I have no acid in my tummy its mostly dry heeves and foam.  My concern is that I am so sick all day long I am not getting enough food first of all but second of all my vitamin intake is horrible.  I can't stomach the prenatal and the regular stuf I have to take just makes me puke more.  What can I try?  My hubby lost his job so I got one but its only contingent so it isn't going to pay the bills.  My stress level is off the charts.  I think I'm just gonna cry... Its been a bad couple weeks

Although I don't speak from experience I have read multiple times that women get a prescription medication to help with terrible morning sickness.  I bet if you call your doctor on monday they may think of doing the same for you.

I am soooooo sorry you are having such a tough time and the economy is not working with you. I am sending you a great big (((HUG))) and wishing you good luck.

As for baby related issues. I understand your discomfort and frustration...I had morning sickness from hell that lasted till week 15.5. Try and eat what you can, it probably won't be much and not the best food choices but right now anything is better than nothing. Try dry and bland foods: bagels, toast, chips, pb&j, eggs, cheese sticks. I found and have noticed a trend too....stay away from meats (unless your still fine with them), they seem to set most people off. If its to the point where you are puking, you can't keep anything down, or you are just miserable your OB can prescribe something. I tried Zofran...good but very very expensive even with insurance, Phenegran (sp)....again good but made me very sleepy, and Reglan......made me a little extra moody. But they all quelled the sickness, even though I stopped all as I didn't like the side effects....but everyone reacts differently.

During this time I had stopped taking my prenatals but only after trying two things first. Try one without iron in it and take it right before bed. Your OB will prob recommend trying that. Those methods still didn't work so my OB okayed me to just stop taking it until my body could handle it. I went about 2 to 3 weeks without taking my prenatals consisently (you will have good days...take it then).

So my advice....talk to your OB and see what they suggest. The outcomes will probably be something similar to mine. I hope it all works out for you.

ETA: While you may not be able to eat much make sure to have your fluids. Do not by any means give up or limit those like you can food. You will find you get dehydrated quicker now and it is no fun. I got severly dehydrated once around 10 weeks and ended up cramping and spotting because of it. Just a friendly warning.

If you can't stomach pills right now, try taking children's chewable vitamins to see if that will be easier for you to stomach, or even the gummy vitamins. You can also supplement that with some Total Cereal, dry or with your fav milk. Both options are a good alternative to prenatals. Many women can not handle prenatal vitamins and find that they worsen their m/s.

Also, never take prenatals or vitamins during the day. Take them before bed so they can digest while you aren't awake. If at all possible, that is.

Don't worry about baby. The baby will ALWAYS take what it needs from you first, no matter how much or how little you are eating.

You can get some suppositories to help with severe vomiting, or you could also try sea sickness bracelets, preggie pops ( http://www.threelollies.com/ ), ginger ale, or even ginger cookies, or go to a HFS and see if they have ginger in capsules. Ginger is a well known anti-nausea "herb".

Ironically in my past pregnancies if I sipped on Fresca (a grapefruit based soda pop from Coke a Cola) once I felt nauseous my nausea went away. I am sure if you flattened it and sipped at it, it could work. It really only took a few sips and not gulps and never a whole can. But again that was just me and quirky body.

Hopefully you can find something that works for you, and you'll feel better soon.

When I was pregnant I was nauseas all the time. My doctor suggested I take b6 vitamins. It did help.
