Hey Ladies, I'm having a hard time with my nutrition. I'm 2 months pregnant with my first baby... very unexpected, but welcome!! I went to see my NUT and said I had to get in 100 grams of protein a day. I'm having trouble with that because sometimes I have a protein shake, but it doesn't go down well. And there are days when I don't want a protein shake. And i'm stuck on which to get.. On top of the fact that my prenatals make me so nauseous... I just need some guidance, food wise & vitamin wise. Anyone have any advice for me ??

well protein wise - if meat isn't working there is tofu, milk, dairy products, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt (can also be added to a smoothie with fruit and milk / soy milk), cheese, eggs, nuts, beans.

HOpe that you are feeling better!

I am just over 14 weeks and now I want to eat well everything lol

I have been taking my prenatal, cut in half, at night. While I do feel nauseous at night too, it is usually better than during the day. Also, I try to eat a lot of cheese made in lots of different ways. You can try broiling shredded cheese. Once they cool they are like chips and taste great- even my daughter likes them. Try sugar free Jello puddings made with a type of milk you can handle- those help me out too. Good luck though! Try the vitamin at night. You could also switch, since the type sometimes can matter. I take the Target brand prenatal, cut in half, and it seems to go down great and my levels are good too.

I would try taking your prenatal at night.  I take a regular vitamin (centrum) in the morning and then my prenatal and folic acid just before bed and that has helped a lot.   Plus, you're in that gaggy stage right now.  Hopefully it goes away by the 2nd trimester!  For me, I was feeling MUCH better by 12 wks and not hardly gaggy or nauseated anymore- it was and is so NICE!

But basically, I just try and get the protein in that I can each day (from just food, not supplements), drink lots of water, and take my vitamins and I'm sure I'll be fine.   I was getting in like 60-70 gms a day before I got pg (what my doc reccomended) and now I'm probably doing about 40-50'ish.   I'm sure I'll be ok though.   You just have to do your best and get what you can each day!  I have protein at every meal and try to drink a few cups of milk each day!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!
