Thought maybe my last post was too long so I thought I'd try again :)
I have not seen my OB yet. His office called, confirmed the pregnancy, scheduled my first ob visit with sono in January, and called in a script for prenatal vitamins. And said that I only need to take that one pill for my pregnancy.

This is what is in this script:

Vit A- 4,000 IU
Vit c- 120 mg
vit d3- 400IU
vit E- 22mg
vit b1- 1.84 mg
b2- 3mg
niacin- 20mg
b6-10mg
folic acid- 1mg
b12-12micrograms
calcium-200mg
iron-27mg
zinc- 25mg
copper- 2mg

Being an RNY-er, and given the malabsorption issues... Im concerned! Do I double up or what? Ive put a call into my nutritionist, but shes out untill after Thanksgiving, so I was hoping those of you who have been in my shoes can help!

Please!

:)

Hopefully Andrea will answer - she's the vite expert. I would say that you need more calcium and B12 also though.

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Well I am new post-op so that change things but I kind of doubt it.

I have to take a day:
2 prenatals (btw if those pills are going to cost you anything just pick them up from the drugstore...same as mine and mine are rite-aid generic)
1200 mg of calcium
2 iron pills

yea in addition to the prenatal (of which really there should be 2 a day, imo) you need the extra calcium still and probably more of it.  I just kept taking the amount I already was. the only thing I don't take extra of is folic acid since its in the prenatal and I take 2 of those a day.

why would we take LESS vites with a baby growing in our bellies??

All I take is a prenatal 1,200-1,800mg calcium citrate +D and 500 mcg of B12 My iron is fine so they told me no need for anything for that yet... other then that all my levels are right where they should be. My NUt told me to take these plus my OB agreed...  But I know everyone is different... but I think all those they told u is crazy...lol
