My very brutally honest friend just informed me that my a$$ is getting wider. Someone tell me she's going insane. My jeans still fit.... granted, I wear a bella band and keep them unzipped for comforts sake, but I can still zip all of the ones that fit comfortably pre-pregnancy. I have only gained 1 pound.
Is it possible that my hips/butt are getting wider even though I'm not gaining!?? Please tell me it's just the jeans I'm wearing today or something. I hate my body enough... plus hate this "fat or pregnant" phase. The last thing I need is to look fatter. I'm trying to be a good girl and not gain much. Please don't let my efforts be in vain.

Yes, it can be difficult to look in the mirror and see our body changing. It can be hard to wrap the head around weight GAIN when we've been focused on LOSS.
But, try to think about your body as an incredible, nurturing incubator. How amazing is it that a woman's body (with the help of sperm, of course) can create, grow and deliver a baby! With no thought on our part, that little embryo implants and tells our bodies to start baking. Our bodies shift and change and prepare for that little miracle to meet the world - again, all without effort on our part. It truly amazes me.
So, while I empathize on the aches, pains, weight gain and other changes pregnancy brings to our bodies, try to focus on the reasons why this is happening. You may find that the wider hips are actually sensual curves and the sore breasts are actually a fuller chest, and the hot flashes are actually that notorious pregnancy glow.
It's all worth it, so hang in there!
Hugs,
