I was wondering if anyone could tell me if when I go to the drs if I should have them give me a pregnancy test or not. I am almost positive I have a UTI because this morning I woke up and felt pain down there and as I go to the bathroom it feels so sensitive and well I am bleeding also. Okay the weird thing is I just got over my monthly on sunday..but it only lasted 4 days and to me it was def not a normal period for me. Has anyone else had different periods since surgery that are shorter lasting than before? I used to have it for 6 days and heavy for 3 out of the 6 and well since surgery I my periods last 4 days now. Which hey is fine with me and I have been getting it like clock work every month also. This is the first time I have ever had a UTI and I am curious if anyone out there has found out they were pregnant from a UTI...even after they just had their period??

You probably have a UTI, but a urine sample has to be tested to know. As far as the pregnancy thing, I don't see how or why you would need a pregnancy test and why you think it correlates to a UTI.

If you have your urine tested and it's positive for a UTI, you will be prescribed some meds.

Well cause I was reading on why you get a UTI and one of the things it says is that pregnant women get them when they are pregnant. And the reason I was wondering if I should be tested is because I have not ever had a UTI before.

Women who are pregnant can also get a headache, but that doesn't mean everytime you have a headache, you are pregnant. Understand what I mean?

Bottom line is....

UTI doesn't not = Pregnancy

But,  Pregnancy = higher risk of UTI

Hope this helps.

You can have a UTI because of sex, not drinking enough water to flu**** out, a bath, a hot tub, etc. There are a million reasons.  If you are concerned about being pregnant, take a urine home pregnancy test.

As for your periods, you are only a few months out of surgery and have dropped a lot of weight. This can mess with your cycles/hormones.

I would say go to the doctor and get your urine tested so you can get on an antibiotic before it turns into a kidney infection.

Apples and oranges.

If you think you are PG, then it's because your period is late, AND you had unprotected sex. A HPT can confirm if you're PG, a UTI cannot.

If you have pain and discomfort when you urinate, then that means something else is going on.

Shorter cycles and intermittent bleeding can happen to us, regardless of having had WLS. It's just the way our bodies are.

Call a Dr and request an appt for a possible UTI.

Good luck,
