Anyone taking Zofran or the generic Ondansetron for nausea?
Hello! I am 21 weeks pg and have been taking the generic of Zofran for some time now for nausea. I took the non generic with my first 4 years ago. I'm experiencing very bad dry skin/eczema type stuff on my face. Sometimes I feel my face is just flaking off and I looks like a lizard. I'm wondering if this is reaction to the drug or just hormones. If anyone is having similar experience I'dlove to hear how they deal with it. It particularly bad around my eyes and I hear not to use hydrocortisone around your eyes b/c it causes wrinkles and cateraches (sp?). I didn't experience any of this with my first. Thanks for any advice. KK
My skin went haywire during pregnancy as well, I doubt the zofran is causing this.
Cortisone will not give you wrinkles or cateracts. You could try using a general eye area moisturizer also. Personally, I use neosporin for everything!

Hi there!
I am all for blaming hormones! I have always had realitively good skin and quite greasy hair. Well....not so much right now. My skin is pretty dry, my hair is terribly dry (I have had to cut back washing because it is sooooo dry), and I don't know about yours but I am trying every remedy right now to relieve dry feet cause jeeze are mine becoming rough. Gotta love it lol. Oh well.
What I can say though...have you ever used cocoa butter or shay butter? Yea neither will help strech marks...haha...but they have been doing some good things for this dry skin I am fighting off.

I used zofran but I didn't have anything like that going on. I wasn't on it for long though... about a month and only about 5 days a week.
I was on Zofran my entire pregnancy but didn't have the dry skin then. I am naturally prone to dry skin, however, and find that Cetaphil Cream (in a container, not the pump) works wonders during the day. At night I put Lansinoh nursing ointment on the dry patches - it works wonders! A little bit goes a long ways.

I have horrible dry skin normally and use organic coconut oil. I get it at the grocery store in the organic section with teh cooking oil. It comes in a small tub and looks like crisco. What I do is take a shower - and just before I get out slather down my entire body (or just where you need it) get out of the shower and just pat dry (don't rub - you'll wipe it off) put on your sexiest jamiies (lol ok I use long johns!) and crawl into bed - the next morning shower as normal and voila nice healthy skin! It also works on your hair but takes 2-3 shampoos to get out completely.

Organix makes coconut oil shampoo and conditioner. Not only does it smell amazing, it really does wonders for my hair. It looks so much healthier than it used to, softer too. I've been using it for probably over a year and I cringe when I have to use anything else.

I just read your other post about your sinus issue. I'd bet it has more to do with the allergies/sinus issues than the zofran. Our skin does all sorts of crazy stuff while pregnant anyways (my acne is like a friggin teenager!!). Anything that effects our breathing/allergies/sinuses can also effect our skin. For instance, eczema and asthma go hand in hand... usually if you have one, you have the other.
Call your OB office for some advice. I bet if you can figure out the sinus/allergy issue and find some good quality moisturizer and skin treatment system you could get it cleared up. I'm not talking oil of olay. With cosmetics and skin care, you truly get what you pay for. I use Origins for my DDs eczema issues, it's sold in dept stores like Macys, Nordstrom, etc.... $30 is steep but anything that works in just a few days is well worth it... they do offer free samples to take home.
