second baby shower a faux pas????
I have two cousins and a sister-in-law that are all pregnant within weeks of me. They ALL will be having showers and only two of them will be first time Mommy's. I'm beyond excited to go to their showers and even help plan and throw them, but I'm frustrated that my family will not be planning one for my baby because it's "not ok" in their book. I have a feeling that I'm going to end up throwing my own little gathering, (can't call it a shower of course!) just so I can take pictures for his memory book! I'm thinking we could all make him a onsie or something like that, or decorate scrapbooking pages, I think he deserves a party!!!
I say if someone is willing to give you a shower, TAKE IT! Not everyone is and I'd enjoy every single moment of it if I was you!

I had one shower only, but in retrospect I probably would have done it differently given the chance.
Firstborn, had a nice medium sized shower with all the family from both sides. Sometime after that I heard my aunt complaining to my other aunt about someone who had the audacity to have a 2nd shower. I'd never heard that before. My secondborn was only 2 years later and I had saved all the stuff so I didn't really feel like I had missed out. However, as the months passed I always saw new or improved baby gear out there I wished I had. In only 2 years alot had changed. My 3rd pregnancy was another boy. I wanted a babyshower but my mom & sister are far away and as I explained, my aunts didn't seem like that was a good idea. So I skipped it, reused what I could, bought whatever else I needed and moved on.
Flash forward 6 months...my aforementioned aunt's daughter got pregnant with her second child. Guess what? SHE got another baby shower!
I was stupid for letting them influence what I wanted/did.
I am not alone, neither are you.
