Vacationing in the 6th month!?
We just booked a shot gun vacation to Disney World, my favorite place on earth . It will be for DH and I one year anniversary/xmas present (we went to Disney on our honeymoon too hehe). We're leaving on Jan 8 and coming home the 17. My mom has a timeshare in Orlando which we decided to book.
I will be 25 weeks by then. I know traveling is usually fine during pregnancy as long as your not having any complications. We are driving down from NJ to FL. We've done the drive many times before.
My question, does anyone have any suggestions for such a long drive? Has anyone taken a trip like this during their pregnancy? At 6 months will I be peeing every 5 minutes or is that a little bit later? I've been to Disney world literally 20 times so I know exactly what I can and cannot go on, but do you ladies think the walking is going to be too much? I was thinking of getting a scooter at least for animal kingdom because it's so huge!
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks
Karen

I can't speak personally regarding how much walking would be too much...I wouldn't think it would be. I would say use your own judgement.
As far as the drive, my husband and I drove from Nebraska to California which is 2-11 hour days in the car (1500 miles) when I was 28 weeks pregnant. My dr. said it was fine, since I wasn't having any complications. The main thing she said is to be sure when to get out every few hours and really walk around and stretch your legs. I had to anyways to go to the bathroom! We would just take like a 20 minute bathroom break instead of a 10 minute one to give me a few extra minutes on my feet stretch my legs out. I had no problems.
I wasn't going to the bathroom much oftener than usual yet at that point, except I was getting up at night at least once by then. Usually I don't get up!
I would say go for it! Use your own judgement. If your legs/feet are doing o.k., go with it. But listen to your body if your legs/feet start swelling or hurting while you are walking around down there.

If you walk regularly now and stay in shape, you should be fine to walk through the parks.
I only need to pee about every 4 hours. I don't think it'll get much worse... at least I hope not lol. You'll probably want to get out of the car and walk around every few hours though.
Just a little word of advice: Move your seat as far as you can from the dash during the trip. That way, if you (God forbid) get into an accident, you reduce the risk of your abdomen colliding with the air bag or the dash... something that can cause complications when you're that far along.

We drove from Minneapolis, MN to Yellowstone when I was 18 weeks. The drive was fine for me. The walking was the hard part. I had very little energy but I am not sure it that was from the pregnancy or from the altitude sickness. I believe I was dehydrated most of the trip from being sick. Walking was sooo hard for me and if I stood still in one spot I would just about pass out so I had to sit down whenever I had the chance. If you feel good now when it comes to walking and getting around then I'm sure you will feel pretty good at 25 weeks!
