Portraits?

We do Picture People usually, but at $20/sheet.... yikes!  Are Sears & JCP cheaper?  I like a plain background, which I'm sure anyone can do.  Do Sears & JCP charge a sitting fee?  I so wish I could afford one of the big time pros around here, but there's no way with me still in school!  (I mean, wouldn't a Christmas portrait on the beach be great?)

TIA for your advice!

We use both a professional photographer and have also used Portrait Innovations. We like them a lot...

Don't be afraid to try professionals.  Some have very affordable rates.  My sister in law has her own business and charges $50 an hour and $50 for an edited CD of the pictures and rights to print anything you want.  It works out much better than Picture People in the long run.

There's not a Portrain Innovations here

There's no way I have $100 to spend on photos this year, which is why I'm shopping around.  I'm basically looking for one of just the3 of us.  Conner will have his Santa pics done with the mall Santa just like the other kids.

I'd try Sears then.  We've gotten some nice ones there pretty reasonably.  With no sitting fee.  You will hear good things and bad things about Sears.  It really depends on the studio.  I think I have a coupon I can email you.

We used Sears because I wasn't about to spend $3000 for the professional.    The quality is meh, but you get what you pay for.

They were cheap, so if you want cheap, go with Sears.   I mean they don't totally suck.   We didn't pay a sitting fee.   We went with the middle of the road package with gave us like 10 or 15 sheets of photos (sizes of our choices), photo collages, and we got the original CD.   I think we paid around $150 for everything.

They have promotions all the time for individual pictures and you will not spend over $100 if you don't want.

I don't mind paying for "meh" at this point.  I doubt Conner would sit still long enough for much more.  I'd like to get professional portraits one day, but not now.  Maybe after we have another (whenever that happens!)

Don't know about anyone else but I've always had good pics at my local Walmart and gotten a good amount of pics for under $50.00. They have where you can preview your poses before picking them out to be printed too so if you don't like how they look they can retake them right then and there.
