Baby dropped at 31 weeks?

I have been feeling a lot of pressure and pain when the baby moves and all movement now seems to be very low, as well as my belly sagging a little more now.  I am pretty sure she has dropped but isn't 31 weeks too soon?  Isn't it supposed to happen like 4-6 weeks before birth???

Usually it is 4weeks before birth, but with both my girls I dropped at about 32 weeks. So maybe you're just an early dropper. hee hee

Seems like it.  My worried mama made me call the doc and they saw me today.  She is either riding low or dropped (I think she dropped) and I am not dilated so everything is fine.  Just got to take it easy now.

My daughter dropped really early too- and then popped back up! That was disappointing. But in the end she dropped for a second time closer to delivery.

I've started dilating and effcing as early as 30 weeks so , no, it's not too early.

Dropping, dilating, effacing, no matter how early they start none of it means anything without contractions or your bag of waters breaking. Baby could still change positions on ya over the next 10 weeks. ;)

I'm guessing this is your first?  Yeah, they usually drop a few weeks before birth, but don't fret!  It's a preliminary sign of labor, NOT definite!  baby can stay put right there, using your cervix as its personal trampoline for a few weeks & be just fine!  Start worrying when your water breaks, then you're in labor!  (Ok, yes, I know there are other signs of true labor.)  Try to relax and enjoy these last few weeks, even though they may seem like 9 years instead of 9 weeks!
