H1N1 vaccine in 1st Trimester ?

I know we've probably talked this H1N1 stuff to death....

BUT

I was going to get the vaccine since I am caregiver to an infant under 6 months and my husband is immunio-suppressed.

If I am pregnant (and since there's a chance) will they give me the vaccine in the 1st trimester?  Even in the 2nd trimester did you get a preservative free one ?

I know my OB won't see me yet until pregancy is confirmed -- and this early on HCG wouldn't even be present in the blood if I did convince him to give me a test.

They have clinics THIS WEEKEND for the vaccine and I am debating calling to make an appointment.

Thanks!

Cindy

I asked my OB - I am almost 13 weeks (tomorrow woooohoooo!) She said she supports getting it sooner then later and no need to wait until after the first trimester.

I believe that even if you are pregnant the baby isn't getting your blood just yet, it's still working off the yolk (could be totally wrong here) but you should be fine. I'd say the risks of Cooper and Hubby getting the H1N1 because you didn't get the shot are greater then getting the shot yourself.

Just my opinion :)

PS - the suspense is KILLING ME! lol Go buy some $ store tests!

The placenta is attatched to the uterus, and yes, the blood flow begins upon attatchment.

The volume of blood in your body has continued to increase. Your blood volume may have increased by as much as 40-50%, as your body pumps more blood to help feed your baby.

Get it.

First of all, it's safe.

Secondly, the pregnancy test becomes positive about the same time the embryo implants--before than, even if you had conceived, the embryo is free-floating through the fallopian tube and nothing you take can affect it directly anyway. This is the "all-or-nothing" phase. If the embryo implants, you're pregnant. If anything affects it such that it doesn't implant, you aren't pregnant.

30-70% of conceptions don't implant. That's the big reason why the definition of pregnancy begins at implantation rather than conception.

My OB said it's fine to get it in the first trimester.  I did wait a little bit because the H1N1 wasn't available until I was almost in my 2nd trimester!  Good luck!

My OB said said it was fine in the first trimester. I had mine today, I told them I was pregnant and they did not even ask how far along I was. They gave me the preservative free vaccine. I did have my regular seasonal flu vaccine during the first trimester and all is well.

Good Luck,
Emily

I asked my OB about if it was too early to get the H1N1 shot also and she said that it shouldn't make a difference, they advised me to get it as soon as I could even early in pregnancy.
