Embarrasing question

I'm feeling quite a bit of pressure (like you do the last couple of weeks in pregnancy after the baby has dropped).  I"ve been on my feet alot more than normal today, so I didn't think much about it.   I also had my 3 hour glucose tolerance test today and think it has messed with my stomach.  Even though I have the band and didn't think the glucola would bother me, I've had the runs a couple of times today.    While wiping after using the bathroom I notice my labia is very swollen.  More so on the right side.   I'm concerned, but not enough to rush to the ER.  I may put a call in the OB.  I guess I could always get an ice pack out and hope no one stops by unexpectedly  lol.

Any one ever experienced this.   I know swollen feet are common, but having a swollen labia is a new one on me.

Thanks,

Amy
ETA:  Thanks girls.   The combo of the runs and the swelling had me a little concerned.   Nice to know this is probably just another fun pregnancy side effect!

It sounds like you have the dreaded blue twinkie.

Google Jenny McCarthy Blue Twinkie if  you don't know what I'm talking about.

At least I know I'm not alone!  I didn't get a mirror and I'm not feeling as much pressure now so I think the swelling is going down since I've gotten off my feet.   I'm going to have to reread that book.   I can't believe I forgot about the blue twinkie!

I think that can be normal. It makes sense that if your feet can swell due to pressure of the baby on certain veins, etc; then your labia can swell too. I bet it's very uncomfortable though..sorry you're going through that.

It's not comfortable, but it isn't the worst of the pregnancy woes either lol.   I'm feeling better now that I'm at home and resting.  To think an afternoon of shopping is what caused this!

Maybe you have a vericose vein down there. I have one that get's really swollen when I'm pregnant and it feels just like that. It is NOT comfortable.

Try and get off your feet and maybe ice pack it.

Glucola=Hershey squirts

Pregnancy=Swollen woman parts

So sorry, as I know how uncomfortable both are. Soaking in a lukewarm bath and the application of a cool wash cloth can help. Also, try elevating your feet for at least an hour.

When do you get the test results?

Hopefully, I will get the results this afternoon.   It could be as late as tomorrow though.
I know one thing I would rather assume I have GD than have a repeat of that test again.   I can't imagine how hard it would be on an RNY'er!

Ah, yes. Swelling. Sooo not okay.
I found that keeping a container of Tucks in the fridge and then using them on the blue twinkie really relieved some of the pain. Getting off your feet will help, too. Hope you are feeling better!
