i turned 29 a couple months ago and i have baby fever-BAD.  the beau knows this and i recently switched from the nuvaring to just otc inserts for protection.  i want a baby so bad but it's too soon-right?  i had my surgery on jan 28 of this year.  i'm just asking from a gastric bypasser point of view-not to hear 'make sure you're ready' and 'have you talked it through' sorta thing.  :P  thanks!

As soon as I passed my 12 month mark, the Dr. ok'd us to TTC. I got pregnant at thirteen months out. So far, so good. You're pretty close. And the holidays tend to pass rather quickly, so January will be here before you know it.

My doc said 12-18 months post-op but had no problem with my 11 month post-op pregnancy.  Good luck!

I was told 12 mos out by my surgeon, as well.  I did conceive (believe me when I say not on purpose) at 7 mos post-op while on the ortho-evra birth control patch.  I was still wearing my patch the day they told me that I was pregnant, in fact.  I had a healthy baby girl that I delivered at 38 weeks of pregnancy.  I, in fact, had both of my children post-RNY.  You are almost 1 year out now.  I would wait a bit longer before trying actively to conceive, but you are close now.  I do understand your baby fever.  Good luck and I'm sure looking forward to seeing you post that you're pregnant in the near future =)

I Was told to wait 18-24 months before TTC, I had RNY 1/30/07 and was given the go ahead 1/09. I was also told that a good indicator from your body was if you had been at a stable weight for at least 6 months and were relatively close to your goal weight. I totally understand the baby fever part - but this is one case where you should play by the rules - you are almost there anyway! Sure oops happen but if you can prevent it it is healthier for you and baby.
