Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I don't think 10 lbs. in 16 weeks is too much. It varies either way for us but I *think* the majority of people gain 25-30 pounds (as they would a "normal pregnancy").

Good luck!

thanks i appreciate your response. i'm just a bit freaking out because i'm still considered obese at 200. so my OB put my optimal weight gain at 0-15lbs. I had no problem only gaining 15 with my DD when i was morbidly obese. and didn't put on the 15th lb untill the week i delivered. and i'm already at 10. it's just so confusing because my diet is like night and day between the two pregnancies. with this being the best. and i eat obviously sooo much less. yet i have put on about 10lbs already.  I fear "the talk" about diet and what I must be doing wrong. when i really don't think i am doing anything wrong .

Hey... I am 17 weeks pregnant and have gained about the same as you...maybe even more as I have been too ashamed to weigh for the past few weeks. I was 205 lbs when I got pregnant, and thought perhaps I'd lose to start with and then gain, but no I'd whacked on about 5lbs by about week 6

LIke you I don't think I am doing anything wrong, my diet is much healthier than it was and I am keeping active... I don't want to gain too much, I fear going back up to that 370lbs that I started at.

All the best

Vicky

vicky has your doctor said anything about you gaining too much to fast? or how much he/she is okay with your gaining? i'm starting to wonder if my ob's thoughts are unrealistic for my new body...  i clocked out my calories for yesterday and they where around 1100 when i did it. but i did have a bowl of cereal with a little bit of banana cut up in it latter for a snack.

My doctor hasn't said anything about me gaining too fast. She said she would like to see me gain between about 15-20 lbs for the whole pregnancy, but said anything up to about 28lbs would be acceptable. I actually weighed myself yesterday after replying to you, and I have actually dropped 2lbs (although I feel like I've gained alot!), so at 17weeks I am up 8lbs which I will take. I gained like 5lbs in the first few weeks and my doctor told me not to panic as some women gain alot at first and then not so much towards the end of pregnancy...as she said evryone is different!

At 1100 ish calories a day you are not getting in too much to make you gain so much weight... My doctor actually told me to eat more calories a day if I could (about 1500-1800), most days I can manage the 1500.

I would talk to your doctor is you are overly concerned at your next visit, but try not to worry too much about the weight gain, although that is easier said than done I know! If you ever want to chat, feel free to pm me, we are only about a week apart in our pregnancies, and it'd be nice to talk about pregnancy stuff with someone who is at the same place as me!

Best Wishes
Vicky

No, I don't mind at all; I typically (pre-preggo) I run between 172i****4ish...I believe I was 174 when I first got pregnanty.  Last month I gained six and she said that was a lil high, because I am still consider overweight but I am hoping for no more than 25 all together!!!

Good luck with yours-Stacey
