Word of Warning to those with small kids!

OMG, ya'll I never thought something like this could happen to me.

Yesterday, I was picking up dinner at Cracker Barrell (to-go).  It was just myself & Conner, who is 15 months old, and wants to wander & get into everything.  Because of that, I decided to hold him instead of letting him walk on his own, & his hige (Chico) stroller would have made us like a bull in a china shop.

So I'm standing there waiting for the food to come up, showing Conner something & this older woman happens by & says he's cute.  Ok, I'm used to that, most older people think most kids are cute.  Well, she kind of holds her hands out & Conner leans toward her.  I change my posture to pull him away, and she says "Oh, you'll come to me!" and PULLED HIM OUT OF MY ARMS WITHOUT ASKING!!

Now, you can say what you would do in a situation, but you never really know until it happens.

My mind went numb.  I mean, seriously, who the HELL does that?!

She was like "Oh I'll stand right here!".  I just had this look on my face like "You've got to be f*cking kidding me."  Then she handed him back.

Oh my gosh guys.  SCARY.

So, moral of the story, if you have your kids in public, DON'T carry them.  Strap their heineys in a stroller or use one of those leash things.  We were lucky that she wasn't a total psychopath, just kind-of one.

geez?! Who would even have the nerve!!! I was in the grocery store the other day and the woman in front of me in line had about a 1 year old sitting in the front of the cart jabbering away - well she was pre-occupied with her cell phone and the baby dropped his toy - I picked it up and handed it to her (it was a teething ring) didn't want to give it to the baby because it would put it right back in it's mount and it was on the floor - well she gave me the look from hell and handed it right back to the baby.

I've also run into the situation where women have yelled at me for waving to their babies.

Touching other people's kds though just crosses the line! Glad that you both came out of the situation OK.

Maybe she was just missing her grandbabies or something.  It still would have freaked me out though.   I was a yard sale a while back and spoke to a little boy about Hannah's age.  He started reaching for me.    I asked his Daddy first if I could hold him (while the Daddy was already pushing him toward my arms).  I very easily could have ran off with him.    Hannah barely lets people she is close to hold her, so I guess I'm lucky to not have to worry about her going to strangers (for now).
Now I'm wanting cracker barrel!

I thought I would have reacted the same, but I went numb.  I mean, really, no one who is sane does that!

Yikes...people are weird. I had similar situations happen to me. One, when Emad was less than a year old, in his carseat, strapped to the grocery cart, I had my back to him as I reached to grab a can/box off the shelf and an older woman was cooing over him and she was ready to unstrap him from the carseat and pick him up...wth? Another woman did the reach out and grab thing and he started to go to her and I pulled back and she was like, oh, be careful, he is friendly, he could easily be kidnapped....ok..umm...fuh-reak-y! I would assume I would go crazy but like you it is so shocking as it happens you have that split second of numbness first!
