Shannyn,

Thanks for sharing your story with us. I'm glad that your family is safe and together. Coming from a military family and living within a military town I understand just how these events impact us all so deeply. I'm outside of Ft. Gordon, my mom is currently at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio and it could have easily been one of those locations.
My heart goes out to you, your family and everyone affected by this tragedy.

I am so glad your husband is ok but am so sad that he had to see what he did. I am also sad for all the families who lost a loved one and those who were injured. Thank you for writing what you did. It makes my problems so petty.... I will be sure to hug my husband tonight and tell him I love him. You just never know what tomorrow will or won't bring.

Hugs,
Erika

My 7 year old came into the living room yesterday as I was watching the news.  Once he saw the sign at the welcome center he started freaking out asking about all of his "uncles" and his old class mates at venable village where he went to school(we lived in Kouma, but they didn't have a special needs program at clear creek)  He loves Ft. Hood.  It's where he has spent most of his life and considers it home.  How do you explain to your 7 year old that another soldier, just like his daddy and "uncles" could do this?

I'm glad your hubby is ok and I pray things can get back to "normal" soon
