OT The tragedy yesterday

Just wanted everyone to know my husband is ok. His office was in the same area as the shootings. He and a few soldeirs ran over as they heard shots fired there. They were there before cops and paramedics. They were also there while the shootings were still going on. He saw a whole lot and is quite a bit in shock still. I know I posted some yesterday and on FB also and just wanted to update everyone here a little. I wont talk about what he saw but it was horrific. You can only imagine. He was shaking and crying last night and this morning as he left to work. Just wanted to say to everyone remember how lucky we are. Hold on to what you have and realise how lucky you are to have it. Dont complain always about those silly things that when something like this happens really makes you stop and say wow I feel like a baby for complaining. I know we all have things happen and need to vent and boy do I also. Just when something like this happens it really makes you remember how much we have and what we should be grateful for. So tell your husband and families you love them. Hold them a little longer even when they want to pull away and say oh mom stop. Tell them 20 times you love them or as many as you need to so they know and really know. What amazed me is as my 11 year old walked out to school this morning not knowing most of what all happened yesterday or understanding turned to my husband and walked over and hugged him and said I love you dad and you be careful atr work today cause I need you to come home tonight and every night. Then he turned and walked out to school. Hold on to that kind of thing. My husband cried and I had to try and be strong for him and my kids but right now as I sit here I am crying cause it saddens me that kids have to worry about these kinds of things and that we should all be so lucky to have real love in life. I am grateful for everything I have and boy do I hope I keep that in mind every day so I dont forget how I feel right now. I am so luckY!!!!!

Thank you guys for letting me vent a little and put this out. sometimes thats all we need to help us feel better. Thank you again for all the support here and on FB girls!! Its means so much to me.

I posted to you on FB too but I wanted to say again that your hubby is in our prayers that he can find a way to deal with what he saw.  I'm so glad he's ok.

Shannyn,  You and your family are in my prayers as is everyone else who was affected by this horrible tragedy.   And yes we all need to remember how lucky we are for what we have.   I definitely hugged my husband and kids extra last night and today.   I hope your husband can find a way to deal with everything he saw.

Your strength you are showing through this is amazing.  I'm sure this is extremely difficult for you as well as your husband.  We appreciate all he and the troops do for us both domestically and abroad.  I will keep you and your family (and all the other families as well) in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank God your hubby is OK. Reading your post brought tears to my eyes. The love and innocence of your son is heartwarming.

My continued thoughts and prayers to your family and all those affected by yesterday's tragedy.

I'm glad you and your family are ok. Sorry your husband had to experience what he did. It's sad that things like this happen.

Thank you for this.

There's never anything GOOD about a situation like what happened yesterday.  But it does serve to remind us of what is important in life.  It's not how much money we make or if we can get that new car or if someone called us a name on Facebook.... it's our family and friends.

Take Care of yourself and your family.  I am going to go hug mine now.

I am soooo glad your husband is okay!! I was watching your FB like a haw****il I saw your post that he was home. Our husbands go over to Iraq and fight for our freedom and we have to worry about them over there. Now we have to worry about living on base, too. It shouldn't be like this!!! This makes us as Army wives step back like you said and say "I LOVE YOU!!" We always say BE SAFE when they deploy but not when they go to work on post.  So thank you for posting this!

I'm glad to see that your husband is OK.  I hope as time goes by, it will become easier for him to deal with this.  You're absolutely right that it does put our every day life problems into perspective.

You and your family will be in my prayers....both for the strength to go through the aftermath...and in thanks that you're all OK.
