Time to switch OBs?

Thursday early evening, I got a migraine. Took some useless tylenol and went to bed. Woke up the next morning and still had a migraine. Called the OBs office hoping to get some advice as to what I could do... or maybe they could call me in a script or something (things like lortab and tylenol with codeine are considered acceptable treatment for migraines during pregnancy). I spoke to the lady at the front desk (mind you, this is a small practice.... a front desk lady, a back office lady, one nurse, and the doc... that's it). The doc was in with a patient when I called so she said they'd call me back. I never received a call back. I ended up sleeping literally all day just to avoid the pain.
THEN
I got rear-ended pretty hard on Monday. I called my OB as soon as I got to a phone. The front desk lady was highly concerned and said for me to come in immediately. I was scheduled to come in for a check up on the following Wednesday (yesterday). My OB basically blew the whole thing off. The only thing he did was check the heartrate using the dopplar thingey.... something he was going to do for my visit anyways since he had no idea I was in for a car accident until after I informed him. He did little to help my nerves and absolutely NOTHING to make sure the baby was okay and there wasn't any harm to the placenta and all that jazz. I was having lower abdominal pain and he didn't even give me a reason as to why nor was he concerned about it.
I ended up going to the ER later that afternoon because I wasn't satisfied with my OBs assessment. They did a very in depth ultrasound - examined literally every single part of the placenta, baby, etc. for a good half hour or more. Plus they did blood and urine tests.
I'm seriously considering switching back to the OB I had with my first child. He was amazing. BUT my office is about an hour away (in light traffic... god forbid an accident or road work) and he's about half an hour from my house. I know some of you laugh at the distance but I work and live in two separate parts of town.... both of which are filled with OBGYNs. I already know what my decision will be... I've just got to work myself up to it. Geez... driving an hour to the doc after work? And towards the end, every two weeks then every week?! Ughhhhh....
Sorry this is so long... I just don't know how much more I can take my OB blowing me off. He's blown off other concerns and has still yet to check my thyroid levels though every single visit he says he'll do it next time.

I would switch OB's. My OB was relatively close to my work (10 minutes), but I worked an hour from home. The hospital he is affiliated with was right across from his office.
Just try to book end of day or first thing in the morning appointments. For me, towards the end, I was glad I had a standing agreement with the receptionist at his office to give me end of day appointments because I LONGED to get out of work early.

I would switch. I myself had to make the difficult decision to switch ob's with my last one I just had in July. I LOVED the dr. I had my 1st 2 with. She was closer, she was a smaller office, I could get in/out quicker, etc.etc, etc.... BUT, I had a REALLY difficult recovery c-section experience due to her with the 2nd one, and didn't want a repeat. My sister told me about her dr. So, I ended up going across town, waited almost every appt about an 1 hour to 1 1/2 compared to 15 minutes! but it was so worth it in the end! So, you have to go with what you gut is telling you. What do you think is best for you and your baby?
Glad to hear everything is o.k!

1) You should have gone to the ER immediately from the accident scene. In fact, I would have made an ambulance taken me. The insurance of the idiot that hit you would have covered it.
2) You have a jackhole (I'm being nice because I'm on this board -- if you want to know what I really think, find me on FB or on R&R, or PM me) for an OB. Go somewhere else -- even to a vet. I mean, my dog's doctor would have treated you better. (Of course, he has a b-12 deficiency, so maybe she is secretly treating WLS patients on the side so ... ... ... )
As for the migraines, there is no reason to suffer so. I go back and reference the jackhole comment. In fact. I square it. Jackhole, squared. No. Jackhole, cubed. If you continue to get them, get a running script for something. ANYTHING But benedryl should help knock you out to go to sleep and it's a nice pregnancy category B.

About two minutes after I posted this, I called my old OB and scheduled my appointment.
The biggest thing that made me hesitate was because my new doc delivers at a primo hospital. I'll basically be going from the Ritz to the Holiday Inn. Stupid, I know. I considered finding another new OB but in this area it's all huge practices (which I don't like at all... not even for my primary care physician).
In retrospect, I agree that I should have taken an ambulance to the hospital. I'd actually ran the whole scenario through my mind weeks prior to the accident and concluded that if I were to get in even a minor fender bender, I'd take an ambulance. My mind was in a different realm after I wa**** though.

You did the right thing by going to the ER later on. You are still early in your pregnancy and i would say YES change Doctors ASAP. My Doctor and hospital was 1 1/2 hours away one way. I always had to get my 10 yr old from school early and drag him with me to the OB as we dont have any family here to watch him, pick him up from school, etc....
It was a huge pain, but so worth it for the right Doctor!
