Crazy Birthday Question: 1 Year Old Party
Hi Ladies....
Sorry, stupid question here....we are having Nathan's party next weekend....mostly my friends from work and their families....I have not been to a one year old party forever.....I am planning finger food, the cake and ice cream....I know he is too young to play games....what else do you do structure wise? Just open gifts I guess....any thoughts on structure....I feel so stupid about this area....right now there may be about 30 people here...yikes...I don't want them to be bored....
Help!

We are doing Jiada's 1st birthday next weekend too. I am making some food and there will be some older kids so I am doing a pinata. It is easy entertainment...the adults usually get into it too! I made a DVD with music from Walmart of 75 pics from the past year. I tried to include pics with people who will be at the party and Jiada (of course). I hope that helps!! Hope your party goes well!! :)
I LOVE THE DVD idea....I am going to totally do that....Thank you....I have several pics of people with him that will be at the party so that will be fun...and I am going to steal the idea that Erika did too of pics....great ideas.....you did the DVD on walmart.com? That is where I have a lot of my pics at...I absolutely love their finishing there.....
When is Jiada's actual birthday....thank you again!!! LOVE IT!

At Brantley's 1st b-day party there was only one other kid there that was his age and the two of them entertained each other. The older kids honestly were only there for the food and us grown ups just really enjoyed watching the kids, especially at present time.
I remember when it was all over thinking "I put way too much pressure on myself!" ..
What you have planned so far sounds delightful! Please, don't worry about it too much or you won't enjoy it -> besides, it's about Nathan (and you) not the guests!

For Josiah's big party we had 30+ people there too. The only game we had was a pinata. It was mostly family with a few friends. I did do gift bags for the kids... but that was it. Finger foods, cake/ice cream and punch. If the weather is nice, send them outside. We couldn't as we were in VT and it was quite chilly that day... Oh, we had 2 kids that were 8 yr olds and they were bored so my sister let them play Wii... they were in heaven. We let people eat whenever they wanted to and did gifts 1st... once they eat cake it is a mess and Nathan will probably need a bath after.
For the pinata, we did let him hold the stick and let him take a swing (my niece was holding him and helped him) then we let the kids go in order of age...youngest to oldest so everyone would get a turn.
Hope that helps!
