Flu shot a danger?

The thermisol is ONLY in the vials that contain multiple doses.  The single dose shots do NOT contain the thermisol.  Ask if it contains it and refuse to receive the one that does.  You can call around to pharmacies and such to see if they have the one without the thermisol and go there for the shot.  Usually your insurance will cover it at a pharmacy just as well as a doctor's office.  I had my H1N1 shot today, my arm is a bit achy but otherwise not a big deal and it was a single dose vial.
