Hello ladies,

I have a quick question for all you moms out there.  My son, Devin has his days and nights a bit messed up.  How do you get them back on track?  He was just 3 weeks old yesterday and its not easy (next to impossible) to keep him awake in the evenings.  At what age does this get easier to do?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

All I can say is that it does get better. Try all you can to stimulate him in the evenings. But at that age, they sleep so much, it's hard.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Sleep begets sleep with newborns, I know it sounds funny but it's true. If you try to keep them awake when they want to sleep it will disrupt their sleep cycle and they will sleep worse at night. At this age you just have to let them do their thing, especially since they will be going though growth spurts and once you get them settled into one routine they will just turn everything upside down on you and start from the beggining all over again.

You will notice in the next few weeks that he will have more regular time periods where he is awake and alert, but they might not be when you want them LOL My little mans favorite time to be awake and smiling was about 4 in the morning.
