35 week appointment

I'm 35.5 weeks now and had my weekly NST/appt yesterday.  I've gained 14 lbs in the last 2 weeks and have the body of a walrus.  I'm SO swollen.  I also noticed some visual disturbances - floaters and blurriness.  FUN!

They said my bp is up and took blood.  I have "mild pre-eclampsia".  Well, they said TOXEMIA but my OB is old school.  LOL.  I now have a NST 2x a week.  I told my OB about my weightgain, he took one look at me and said "yeah, and it's ALL water!"  Nothing is working to get the swelling down.

I was told that I have to take it even more easy....yeah...I'm already on full bedrest.  What LESS can I do?  I don't even have the energy to get off the couch!  My muscles are poo.  My joints are poo.  I feel like a big lump of poo.  Thank goodness this is almost over.

But, on a brighter note, the girls look good.  Not moving much today but they seem to be night owls like me.  My cervix is shortening but not dilating.  I find this funny because I was already 2cm and 70% at this point with my singleton.

Anyhoo, that's where I am.  I had Molly Maids (a maid service) come clean my house today.  I have friends bringing dinner tonight and the kids stayed with Grandma last night and all day today.  Now, I get to go take a bath in my freshly cleaned tub with no inturruptions.

I'm not here much these days as it takes too much energy to sit at my computer...pathetic, huh??  Not....much......longer.....

Sandy- please keep an eye on the swelling, and especially the visual disturbances... these can change very quickly to something really dangerous (been there, done that....lucky to be here today!) and pay special attention to any pains in the right upper quadrant area.  If you feel any pains like that, please call your dr. on the way to the hospital.  Seriously, pre-eclampsia is nothing to mess with and can turn into HELLP syndrome very quickly.

Thank you...I'm now being seen 2x a week.  My BP is usually pretty low so any elevation is "odd" for me.  But my OB is being VERY diligent with me.  The hospital has the thing checking my BP ever 3-5 minutes during my NST and noticed it came down but still, they plan on taking blood along with my visits now.

Again, thank you for your response!

Sandy,

please please pay attention to your visual disturbances as those can be warning signs of neurologic stuff going on due to high BP....just be very aware of your body (I know like you can ignore it right now)...lol that is a joke.  Like I said...if you need me..call...I am 10 minutes away!

You may have to go to the hospital just to be on complete bed rest...as it really is so hard to be on bedrest at home with two little ones...you think you are resting...but really start counting how many times you get up and down and a day and you realize you are not resting as much as you intend to.  Lets keep those babies baking 1 more week and then we are home free!!!!

Take care and know that you are in my constant thoughts and prayers!

It was 150/80 (high) and then went down to 130/60 within an hour.  But he said it was elevating enough to be classified "mild".  I'm usually a 90/60 kind of girl so I'm sure this increase is what's doing it.  I am actually doing NOTHING while on bedrest.  My hubby has taken the complete brunt of it all.  The HARDEST thing I do several times a day is get my fat chubby butt off the couch to go to the bathroom.  LOL.  Well, and right now, sitting at the computer.

OK, I'm going back to the couch...I wish the email responses showed more than just a few sentences!  My blackberry isn't 3G so internet is slooooooooow but I get every email.

Thanks Shari...I'm clinging on to the fact that twins come early.  LOL.  Watch, these girlies won't!  They enjoy kicking my butt.  ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised if you have your babies in the next week or so. That is what happened to me, my b/p started going up and eventually got up to where they were concerned, that is when I had my c-section!!  Keep a close eye on it!! Can't wait to see pictures of your little ones!
