I never see my OB! Is this normal?

As I have said before I have soooo many appointments. I have for this entire pregnancy. I have gone in bi weekly since week 24 and weekly since last week and I have only met with my OB twice. Every other time I have seen my NP or another OB. Is this normal? Should I say something about it? It's really starting to frustrate me because I have a lot of questions about induction and delivery that I keep being told to talk to my OB about because she will make all the final decisions about that but I don't even see her until 11/19 and the last time I saw her was 9/24 so it's been a while if you think about how often I have been to the Dr since. What do you guys think?

At my office, no one has a "Regular" OB that is thiers. It is required for a patient to see all the OB's in the practice. When you go into labor, you never know who will be on call, so they don't want patient's having a "stranger" deliver.

With that being said, once I saw all the OB's at least once, I REQUESTED my favorite one.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I'm in teh same boat as Jodi. There are 5 OBs in my practice and I have to see them all at least twice during the pregnancy. The 2 I have seen so far I really like and I hope that one of them is on call the night I deliver, of course I might love the other 3 when I meet them too. lol

If there is only 1 OB that will deliver you then I would request that you see them or call in with your questions. 11/19 is just over 2 weeks away so hopefully she can answer all your questions then! I'd mention to her your situation too... I think that she should see you at least every other time or pop her head in or something.

I actually don't mind meeting the other OB's just due to the fact that there is no way to know who will be on call when I go into labor so that's really not the problem I just wish the other OB's could answer my questions for me ya know?! I am going to talk to my NP today about it. I have an NST & ultrasound this afternoon. :-) Thanks for the advice!

I see the same high risk ob but not the same regulr ob. I like that i see some of the midwives. I actaully perfer them.

I see the same High risk doc every other week now. In the beginning I met all of them, but have only been seeing one for the past 10-12 weeks or so.

Every other week I see a different OB or PA in the normal OB clinic. Get to meet all of them in the practice before hand since there is no way of knowing which one will be on call when I go into labor.

I think a lot of places are set up like this unless you are going to a one man practice. I absolutely love Geisinger so for me it's worth seeing a thousand different doctors to go there!

IMO that's the biggest disadvantage of going with a doc who's part of a large practice. You never see them. Even if you schedule an appointment WITH them, you still may not see them but rather their PA or some other doc.

I just now saw the same OB for the second time this whole pregnancy. I am suppost to see one of two high risk OB's now. I guess all along but that's the military for ya. I would request and tell them I was suppost to see the two OB's but they would stick my with whoever was open that day. I wouldn't worry to much I would just tell whoever you see that you have questions for the OB. You see her on the 19th just make sure you ask all your questions then. It sucks seeing someone new but I think alot of women go through that.

i would bring it up at an appointment even if its with a np or different ob. my first pregnancy my ob was terrible to me and we never went over anything that might or would happen during labor so i switched hospitals and doctors and i couldn't be happier. the one thing i wish i did more was speak up when i didn't feel comfortable with somethng they were doing, like switching my doc 6 months into my pregnancy without notice, the mean comments about my weight, ect.. it's your body and having a baby is a huge deal speak up and if your concerns arent addressed keep going till they are and if they can't find away to address your questions make sure they know you aren't happy im a huge letter writer and it might not get instant results but you bet everyone treats you a little differently after you let their boss know what the yare up to.

good luck girly!!
