I am currently 4 months pregnant. I havent been on the scale at all in the last few months.. went to the doctor and got on the scale, I am up 9lbs. Kinda freaked me out alittle.. not used to seeing my weight going up.. just wondering what a healthy weight gain is during pregnancy? I've heard 27lbs is a good number.. 3lbs per month..
I'm also 4 months and I'm up 4 lbs. I don't think 9lbs is too bad. Some people gain 20lbs right off the bat b.c they think pregnancy is a license for your life to be an all-you-can-eat buffet. My OB wants me to gain 25lbs. I wanna stay around 15-20 if possible.
I think you're doing a great job, just continue to be conscious of it!

Weight gain varies greatly. I am 20 weeks and have gained about 9 lbs. I am not binging on cookies and ice cream so I am not going to worry about it too much. My goal is not to gain more than 20 lbs, but my priority is having a healthy baby. I have some days that my appetite is normal and I eat normal. I have some days when I feel like I am just starving all day and I go ahead and eat more on those days. I just try to keep it healthy and balanced.
Us WLS graduates definitely don't like to see the scale go up, but this is a special exception.
Take care..
Wait gain in pregnancies vary. I gained a whopping 44lbs when I was pregnant with my daughter. I ate right but my body craved more carbs, I didn't eat sweets because after almost 5 yrs post I still dump. I have lost all of the weight and plan to lose 10-15 more. I did a lot of walking and water aerobics while preggo which helped a lot when I was ready to start back exercising after baby.
Don't worry about the scale you are growing a baby. Just continue to eat healthy and if you can exercise do it.
Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

It was very hard for me to see my weight go up, but it was all for the right reasons and 2 weeks after having my baby girl i was in my jeans again. That would not have ever happened prior to WLS! lol . My Doctor wanted me to gain 35-40 pounds and i gained 21 pounds and had a big baby at 8Lbs 6 oz, now she is only 3 months and 15 pounds! You know all the right things to eat, drink, etc....baby needs it all. Try to relax and enjoy being pregnant.........easier said than done i know. :)
Tina,
The scale at the dr's office weighs me in four pounds heavier than my home scale- so that might be a factor. Also, I put on about 5 pounds the first week I was pregnant- probably before I even got a test result, and wondered, "What the heck?" But, since then, I haven't put anything else on. I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. I come from a long line of women who put on a lot of weight during their pregnancies, and I suspect that, even with the WLS, I will still put on more than I would like. That being said, I hear that sometimes it's easier to lose after, so I am trying to focus on that. Good luck! I would recommend at least weighing yourself weekly so you know!
