Good news!

We get to find out the baby's gender on December 2nd!!!!!  I am sooo excited.  I was hoping to get it earlier, but I am going to the high risk OB and he has weird hours and days that he works.  They told me the ultra sound is about 25-30 minutes and then I have an hour consult.  I'm SO excited, I haven't seen the baby since 7 weeks.

This appt came at just the right time.  I seem to keep getting sick during this pregnancy.  They gave me Tamiflu a month ago.  Then a week ago I had sinus problems, now it's turned into a sinus infection.  Joy.  I'm on Ceftin which is a pill but tastes like a sharpie marker and makes me dizzy for about an hour after I take it.  But it's a very safe antibiotic for baby so I will deal with it.

I did have a question though.  I've been having killer headaches due to being sick.  I've been taking the antibiotic which is a B risk category.  I've also been taking Tylenol which is also a B risk category.  Is it OK to take these two together?  It's prob a silly question being that one is a pain killer and one is a antibiotic but I'm assuming this is OK.  Also the Tylenol warning says it's safe in therapeutic doses.  Does that mean the dosage that the bottle recommends, like 2 every 4 hours?  Or what?

Thanks Ladies
Karen

Yay on getting to find out the babys gender..it'll soon be here!!! I have my scan on the 30th November, but we have decided not to find out....we want a surprise and in the UK they charge you £50 to find out (about $80).

I am like you and seem to be sick all te time since being pregnant...I think I'm coming down with a cold now. I recently had antibiotics and my doctor said it was ok to take antibiotics and tylenol at the same time. I have been having really bad headaches since about 14 weeks and don't think I would've made it through without tylenol! And yes r.e the therapeutic doses... 2 every 4 hours is perfectly safe, but no more than 8 in a 24 hour period.

Hope you feel better soon!

Vicky

Karen,
I was there with the illnesses too my first pregnancy. I caught everything for the first six months, and finally got better toward the end. I was waiting for that this time, and I haven't caught anything yet (knock on wood).

You should be OK with the two, since they are for different problems. I would maybe do 4-6 hours if you could on the Tylenol, just because it is so bad for your liver. Do you drink caffeine?  A little caffeine works great for headaches, of course in small doses. I only drink caffeine when I have a headache, and in pregnancy that is at least once to twice a week. Just a thought.

Call the pharmacy in which you had the prescription filled and ask them.  That or call your OB and ask.

As far as getting rid of the headache.  I'm so not the one to ask.  Sorry.   I have pretty much had either a headache or migraine since day one of this pregnancy.  I'm stubborn and take nothing for it.

Karen~ I'm a migraine sufferer, as well, and was able to take my Imitrex and Topamax when I reached week 20 of the pregnancy, per my OB and Neuro.   Before that though, I took Tylenol (which didn't work) or I was SOL.  With the Tylenol, I took 2 every 4-6 hours.  I am not giving medical advice, but just letting you know what I did and I've had both babies post-op.  FB me if you have any more questions.
