inexpensive breast pumps
Beth, I have to prefice this by saying this was 7 years ago, but the University Hospital I went to woule rent them out...the nice ones...and they would bill it to you insurance first, then if they do not pay then you are responsible...so, you might try L&D and the lactation consultant with your hospital!
Hope this helps!

my hubby had a friend that had his wife's doctor write a prescription for a breast pump and they got it for free! He bought a nice Medela breast pump (around $200) and then submitted the receipt for it, along with the prescription to his insurance company- and then they reimbursed him because it was "medically necessary" due to the prescription the doctor wrote! It's worth a try!
I bought a Medela pump in style and used it a handful of times with my 2nd baby, spent $200. It's the best pump out there but I hardly used it. After I'm done having kids, I'm going to sell it for like $100 or so and see if I can get some of my money back. lol

You can contact your local hospital and see if they rent out the nice ones! I got mine for $2.00 a week from the hospital when I needed it. Now I just use my Medula manual pump (they gave it to me at the hospital), it's quick and easy and does not hurt as much as the cheap electric one that I bought and I can go at my own pace.
