WTF OMG!!! LONGGGGG

I am going fcuking crazy!!!

I need to tell you the back story to this.  DH and I live in an apartment complex.  It's just about 40 years old, and we haven't had any real problems to date.  We've had a few minor problems that have always been taken care of.  We've lived here for almost a year and a half.

We've been trying to save money to buy a house.  My fathers a Realtor and is going to co-sign a mortgage for us when the time comes.  Anyway.  My mother lives about 30 minutes away.  My hubby still works in PA.  We were only in this apartment temporarily until I finished school, I'm done in December.  When we got pregnant, we were planning on moving to PA and buying a condo or something.  My mom offered for us to move into her house.  My mother has a 6,000 sq ft house with 2 extra bedrooms.  She has plenty of room.  We wouldn't have to pay rent, just buy our own food and stuff.  We would be able to save at least 1,000 dollars a month and we could stay there as long as we wanted.  So we agreed and we are moving out in about 2-3 weeks.

So about a month ago I noticed an abundance of moths in our apartment kitchen.  These moths have always been in the apartment, but all of the sudden there was like 20 of them.  So then last week I pulled out some rice out of the cabinet and there were maggot looking things ALL over it.  I flipped and DH and I pulled everything out of the cabinets and threw away about 75% of our food.  We vacuumed up all the moths and "caterpillars" we could find and put an open bottle of vinegar in the cabinets, because they hate the smell (we found that out online).

So I have not seen  the maggot things, or moths at all for a week.  This morning I woke up, looked at the ceiling of our kitchen, and there are cocooning moths ALL over the ceiling.  I flipped out and called DH and told him to call management.  Management told us they would have an exterminator.... NEXT FRIDAY?!?!?!  Then they said they are gonna spray some stuff today, then they said they wont b.c I'm pregnant.

So I called.  They told me I brought them in and it's MY fault.  I told them there is no ******g way I brought those nasty moths with me, and that they have been here since August 2008, but they just became a problem when I noticed them burrowing in my food.  I went APE **** on this lady.  I told her I wanted someone from maintenance to come get them off the ceiling.  They told ME to do it.  I'm sorry I'm 4 ******g months pregnant, I am NOT standing on a chair, picking moth cocoons off the ceiling when I had to sign a notice when I first moved in here that they could still have lead paint on their ceilings.  PLUS they have popcorn ceilings that crumble right off.

I tried vacuuming them off but they are not budging.  There is about a hundred of them, and I am hosting a Halloween party tomorrow.  DH brought some heavy duty duct tape and gloves and masks and is going to rip the ******s off the ceiling.

I am SOOO pissed, do I have the right to be pissed?  They are not doing anything about it, and they're not even sending the exterminator on Friday because they do not want to be liable if anything can harm the baby.  I am so glad I'm moving I cannot take this anymore.

All I wanna do is ***** and cry, I am SOO pissed and annoyed.

That's the worst part about renting! I have had the most horrible landlord experiences ever! I won't even begin. I would be very mad also but at least you are moving. Try your best to let it go and keep the thought of getting the hell out of there in your mind! Soon you won't have to deal with them anymore!! I'm sorry you have to go thru this! Gross!! :-(

Oh my go****he last apartment my hubby and I lived at we had those moth things too! We also had to get rid of most of our food cause they ate holes in through the boxes and everything. I don't know what to tell you about the cocoons on the ceiling. We were lucky and were able to get all of ours gone before it got to that point. I can't believe they're not sending an exterminator now, the exterminators are supposed to have chemicals that aren't harmful (so they say). I wish you luck.

WEll that just sucks!! ANy chance you can move to Mom's say sunday?? Or can you go and hubby will follow later? I know I have gotten them in my house before and so have my parents. Someone told me that they just come in (like normal bugs) but find the tasty stuff in your cabinets - rice, flour, bisqu****tc.

Good luck and I would have flipped out too - threaten to get a lawyer - that usually  shuts them right up. Tell them that you will find somewhere to stay the night that the exterminator comes OR they can put you up in a hotel

Good luck!

I am not well versed on this type of thing, as I have not had much experience renting...and when we did rent, t was a lease to own option...so the homes were new construction...The house we are in right now I am not very please with...I LOVE the house...it is nothing fancy, and it really does not fit my champagne tastes but right now we are living on a beer budget..my only complaint is that our master bedroom smells like dog pee.   I KNOW it is not our dogs,as they have been house broke for years and simply do not have accidents unless it is not their fault; i.e.sick or left in the hosue for 10 hours alone.  Here is something different tho...we have hardwood floors and it STILL smells like dog pee...can the smell seep into the wood?  If so, is there any way to get it out, or do we have to rip it out and pull up the subflooring and what not...I am kind of at a loss...I just do not want people to think my house is dirty becuase of the smell.  I burn candles all the time and have the apple cinnamon air fresheners that plug in...I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the smell of those things.

So anyway, back to u...I would do some internet research on landlord tenant rules and see what you can do, but my honest opinion is...it sonly 3 weeks..yyourmom hasroom...pack a bag and get the hell out and let hubbby deal with it...bugs are a man's job...LOL

Lots of love and good luck to you!
