Twin Mommies (or Trips too)

I need to vent!  I am so freaking miserable!!!!!!!  How far did you guys go with your pregnancies and did your babies need NICU time?  I feel HORRIBLE that I want them out now at just about 35 weeks but I can't take it anymore.  My OB wants me to go into labor on my own and doesn't want to schedule even though I have to have a c-section.  I understand his reason but I want to cry.  He doesn't think I'll make it to 39 weeks...I say these girls are going to prove him wrong.

I'm swollen, itchy, stretched further than my skin will go, can't hardly wipe my own ass, and I can't get comfy no matter WHAT I do.  Bedrest is SUCKING BIG TIME as I'm burning NO calories and only taking them in - I've gained 5 lbs this week and my face has gotten most of it.  I look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.  :-(  I'm getting winded just going from one room to another and my two kids are going stir crazy.  I feel like a horrible mom with them being babysat by Nemo and Lightening McQueen and Tim Burton all day, every day.

So again, how far did you all go?  NICU? Bedrest?  What did you do to pass the time?  I've watched EVERY reality medical show on DCH and TLC.  LOL.

Thanks,
Sandy

Hi Sandy- not a mom of multiples, and I'm a big time lurker, but I had a 35 weeker.  I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome, so my situation was a little different.  I was given steroids a few days before his delivery to help with lung maturation, but my health got so bad and was quickly going downhill so we had to deliver.  He was born screaming at 4 pounds, he spent 10 days in the NICU.  He didn't have any problems breathing, but had the CPAP machine for the first 8 hours as a precaution.  His problem was that he was having trouble maintaining his body temp, he had no meat on his bones but I think that your babies are already bigger so that probably won't be a problem.  He also hadn't learned to suck and eat so he had a tube for about 8 days and they were testing him out with the bottle, he had to be able to take a feed from the bottle for 24 hours straight before they'd let him go home, he would have 1 or 2 feedings with the bottle then get lazy so it took a bit for him to figure it totally out. I had hospital bedrest for the week before he was born and then they let me go home for a few days (still on bedrest) and my home days were much more comfortable, but I was still miserable!  Sorry, I don't have any advice for you except for have visitors to help out and keep you company and help out with your younger ones.  You're almost there!

Thank you for responding!  I am really hoping to make it (mentally too) to 36/37 weeks for their sake.  I really want to avoid NICU time - even though my girls are big, you just never know.
I've been lucky to have family and friends come help me but I think they are all getting burned out on it.
I'm thankful that I haven't had any real medical issues with this pregnancy as I know many women with multiples (and even singles) do.  I'm just praying that my water breaks this time so I know I'm in labor for sure - in a week or two!  My last one was supposed to be a preemie and I had to be induced at 39 weeks - he ended up being 10.5 lbs!  LOL.

Again, thanks for responding and for your encouragement.  It's nice to hear other stories.

It sounds like you need a big ((Hug))! My mom had twins and they went to 36 weeks almost 37. They were born on a Friday and my mom was scheduled to go off the meds that were keeping her pregnant at 37 weeks which was that coming Monday. The girls were 5 and 6 pounds and spent 2 weeks in the NICU and came home with sleep apnea monitors they used for the first month. Today they are 16 and being the babies of the family, are spoiled rotten. My mom was on bed rest from the beginning of June until they were born August 7th. They made her stay in the hospital for those two months. We took her lots of books and she put together many puzzles. My grandma came and stayed with us and that probably helped my mom relax quiet a bit. Is there anyone who can come take your kids off your hand for a while?
When I had my third child I was on bed rest. At the beginning of everyday my husband brought in food for me and the kids in a cooler. He also packed movies, books, toys and games that I could play with them on my bed.
Good Luck, you are almost done,
Emily

Thanks Emily.  My family has helped out and so have friends but I think they are all getting burned out on doing so.  My MIL has taken the boys today so I am home alone...which I don't know which is worse!  LOL.

I really want to avoid NICU time with these girlies - so I want them in here another 1-2 weeks but I just don't know how much more I can take.  Ugh.  I find myself praying "oh please let my water break!" then I catch myself and say "wait - no!  Not for another week or two!".  Ugh...I feel like a big baby!

Thanks for your response and encouragment.  I appreciate it!

With my last child and he was only one baby, I was begging for him to come, so do not feel bad. I think it is very normal to feel that way.

Sandy,

I know you do not know me from other than on facebook, but I would be oh so happy to help you out in any way I can. We live exactly 7miles apart.  I have raised 8 children (my youngest is a 7-year-old boy.  Last year, I spent the entire school year caring for my neighbor's baby.  I started taking care of him and took care of him until he was almost 2.  I could always get her to write you a reference letter if you wish.  I know how difficult it is being pregnant with just one for 40 weeks, much less 2.  I carried a twin pregnancy to 16 weeks...and that was TOUGH...I cannot immagine going through with it all the way.  Anyway, I have 21 years experience in being a medical assistant, and (without sounding ****y)) am a pretty smart cookie when it comes to kiddos and medical issues.  Since I have decided to not have any more biological children of my own, I love to take care of other little ones...it gives me my fix.

So, long story short, please feel free to contact me.  I would be more than wlling to give you references.  I am NOT into running an at home daycare, I simply just like to help moms here and there when they are in temporary need.  If you would like to have a Starbucks sometimes, shoot me a line, and I would be oh so glad to come meet you and bring you a *why bother*...lol that is whatI call mine cuz no caffeine, fat free milk, and deccaf...LOL   Then, if we hit it off, I would be glad to have you come into my home and take a look to see whereI live and see if it is someplace where you would feel comfortable leaving yyour little ones!

TakeCare, and keep in touch!!!  I think about your often, and have you on our family prayer chain...just my mom and my 3 sisters.

Hugs to you and rest, rest, rest!

Ok, how did I miss this post?? LOL!!
I don't think we are on facebook together, are we??  Heck, I have the hardest time getting on the computer these days!  I do it all from my phone on the couch. ha ha ha....

I'd love to get together.  I'm actually sneaking up to Starbucks right now with Kellen to go get my "Why bother" or as I call it "what's the point" latte.  :-)  DH took Holden grocery shopping and Kellen got really upset and wants to go for a ride so Starbucks drive-thru it is!  :-)  That, and Jack in the Box.  Thank God for drive thru's!

After some past situations here online, I do get leery meeting/exchanging info with people from the site.  Even with my facebook!  But I'll send you a pm when I get back and give you my info.

Thank you so much for the offer!!  Now, headed up your way (Bonney Lake) for some coffee and breakfast!

Sandy,

I definitely understand your concerns of meeting people in r/l from originally meeting them on line.  I have met a lot of people...some absolutely wonderful (one became my husband) and some others that I have tried to just erase from my memory...lol  My info i not up to date anymore, as I live in Orting now instead of Bonney Lake...but we have a Starbucks in Orting too.  Also, I have a 7-year- old son who would love to entertain your boys...he is great with younger children...he is the baby and only boy of 8...so he loves to have boys to play with...LOL

Also, I have two teenager daughters who are awesome babysitters...they even clean house while you are gone (I have trained them well)...LOL  One of them is driving age, so you would not have to come get her if you needed her to sit...the only issue is...is that it is against the law for her to drive after 1 a.m. so you would have a curfew...LOL

Let me know when you are ready for that coffee...and I will go get it and deliver it to your front door :)

Take care and feel as good as you can at this stage of the game!

Thinking of you!
