Sugar tolerance before and after pregnancy.

Before I got pregnant I had a really low sugar tolerance. Small amounts made me very sick but not that I am almost 7 months my sugar tolerance really high. I can have pretty much anything at this point.

My question is, Will I go back to only being able to have small amounts of sugar after haveing the baby? Sweet things are my weakness and haveing the low tolerance was a huge help in maintaining my weight pre-baby, so i'm worried.

I was exactly the same way. Now that Drew is here, I can eat more sugar than I could pre-pregnancy but not as much as I could while I was pregnant.

Sugar is my weakness too *boo*

I still dump but not nearly as easily as I did 9 weeks ago. And yes, I test the limits regularly. LOL  I've seen it go both ways with the sugar tolerance.

I could do about 20g of sugar per sitting before I start to feel nauseous... and it's just uncomfortable kind of sick... So I try not to push my limits still even though I am prego and what not... I have to be honest I cant wait to eat a snickers out of my daughters trick or treat stuff tonight but that will be all...lol

For me, its so unpredictable. Before pregnancy my limit was 10g sugar before I felt uncomfortable and not it's more like in the 20gs range, which is a huge difference to me.  But really, there is no set rule, I have dumped on less then 10g a couple of times while pregnant. I'm just confused about how it all works I guess. I hope I can go back to not being able to have so much sugar the majority of the time.

Hey Cristy we are due the same day! My ob told me that my sugar tolerence is higher now to meet the needs of the growing baby. their nutrition is drawn from our blood sugars so we tend to be able to consume more sugar than while not pregnant. Try to keep your sugar sources good and after (at least I'm hoping) we will lose that sugar tolerence. I try to keep the sugar in my diet to things like milk which has 12 to 15 grms per cup and light  yougurt which has about the same as milk. Fruit is another "sweet" that I try to stick to. Although lately the little guy has been "making"me eat a few pieces of chocolate here and there, I make sure that I adjust my totals for the day to account for it.

Ditto on Shauna's post. Sugar is the devil incarnate for me...
