Almost Done Baking This Baby
Hi Ladies--
This morning I had my last OB appointment and non-stress test. My OB gave me the H1N1 shot and I'm breathing a sigh of relief that I finally got one. The hospital notified me that no visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed due to the H1N1 outbreak. I think that it is a good policy given that H1N1 seems to be so prevalent in the community right now. Why take chances and introduce it to a Maternity Ward? I have to call my SILs tonight to let them know of the policy.
To be honest, I'm in a state of disblief that this pregnancy is now 1.5 days from being over. It took us YEARS to get to this place and I feel beyond blessed. I'm doing my best to savor each fetal movement and hiccup. My vitals are all fine and my total gain is 28 lbs. People keep telling me I'm "all belly" and that they can't see weight gain anywhere else.
The baby is estimated to be 6 lbs., 12 oz....but I suspect he'll be more like 6.5 lbs. come Friday. My c-section is scheduled for 7:30 am, and we'll be arriving at 5:30 to get prepped. I've had many surgeries in my life, and I can't recall EVER feeling anywhere near this happy about going into a surgery. I've been eating a lot of protein and iron in preparation and avoiding salt and junk foods (well, for the most part).
We are mostly prepared for the baby and what isn't completely set-up will simply have to wait until Baby Boy is here. We've got the basics covered and the rest is just bonus. I've already drafted the big email announcement that will be sent out to friends and family with the news of our son's arrival.
Other than my pre-op bloodwork tomorrow, I'm planning on taking it easy and just enjoying my last day of this pregnancy.

Paula - you seem so calm and prepared! I hope that I can be 1/2 as together when I am so close to my due date as you.
It seems like you were just doing the "today I am pregnant" now the day after tomorrow you'll be holding your beautiful baby boy in your arms.
Here's to an easy c-section and a quick recovery. We'll be thinking of you and praying for you hubby and baby. can't wait to see pics and hear his birth story when you are up to sharing it!
