getting comfy / pillow question

I have lower back issues, 3 herniated disks and 3 decompressed disks in my lower back - I have what's called chronic degenerative disk disease (herediatary and not reversible). Well I saw my chiropractor last night for my monthly adjustment and she told me that things are going to just get worse as the pregnancy goes on. I am having trouble getting comfortable at night to sleep. I was a side / stomach sleeper and well sleeping on my stomach is already uncomfortable.

I was considering buying a body pillow tonight after work to see if that helps - but in my research I have also seen these "C" shaped things that go behind your back curl up under your head and curls down between your legs and supports your belly later on - BUT they are like $50. Any one have a vote one way or another which worked better for you?

Thanks ladies!

I hated the C type pillow. It just never seemed comfy to me. I just liked the big body pillow. I would tend to put it between my knees, then cuddle it. But some nights I just really wanted to use it as a "prop" along my back and then I would use a small pillow between my knees.

I just found the C pillow only allows for a certain position, and I am all over the place when I sleep. But if you typically sleep in the same type position, it may work for you.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I only bought a body pillow and one extra thin pillow and that has been great. I was looking at the pregnancy pillows but I did not want to spend the money for the short time I would use it. So with those I have a little bit of everything. I now just use one for between my legs even the body pillow got thrown out cause it started making me more uncomfortable. Hope you can find something to make you comfy!!

thanks ladies! I am not usually for buying the "one use" things so I was leaning towards the body pillow. I'll stock up on a few extra regular pillows just in case too.

Thanks again!

I had injured my back and had several herniated disks and have DJD there and mid back (they felt from the strain)...I have to say as I lost weight from my RNY my back has never felt better...however- pregnancy does strain it for me (not horrible though)- I find massage therapy and stretching helpful.  I also use a regular body pillow (super comfie)....plus I surround myself with pillows so I can sleep on my sides.  I also found that injectable (epidurals) for pain management worked wonderful...I believe they can still do those while pregnant.  It can be a series of three shots, I usually had incredible relief with one shot.  I have also used a muscle / nerve stimulator (but that isn't okay in pregnancy- or I can't imagine it would be) Oh- I did try a pregnancy pillow and I hate it.  I hope you can find something great and it doesn't get drastically worse.

Thanks Jenn - I've been the epidural route about a year ago I hope I don't have to go back to that! I'll break it to hubby that I just have to go for regular massages! lol

You can certainly tell me hell no but I have a C shape pillow bought it from BRS for $62.00. I used it during the end of my pregnancy and not a whole lot because at some point I ended up sleeping in the chair. I am a clean freak and I will wash the cover and send it to you if you would like. If not believe me I'm not hurt If so PM your address, I will stuff that sucker in a box and send it your way.
