Ectopic Bleeding Question

Ok, I need some advice or a dose of sanity  Most of you know my story ectopic and had the methotrexate shot last week. Have ultrasounds, blood tests, camera through my cervix into my uterus to ensure nothing in the uterus to confirm ectopic, etc. Well, my HCG yesterday was down which means I don't need another chemo shot---YIIPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!

My issue is the bleeding. I bled heavy for 16 days. Then, I stopped for two days (got the shot last Tuesday) and started bleeding heavy again for now five days. So, out of 23 days I have been bleeding for 21 days. When does it stop?

I am followed by an RE and saw an OB today. I have had everything under the sun. They said hang in there. I am just wondering is there end in sight? 21 days of bleeding (not spotting but heavy) is about to drive me crazy!!!!

Sorry just had to vent!

I am much better. I was in a lot of pain last week and the chemo shot knocked me down (exhausted, throwing up, etc). But I feel 100% better from last week. Still not all the way myself but I am getting there.

Some family flew in this weekend to see us so that was a nice distraction. I have also had an email angel that emailed me every day to check on me. It helped get through the bad days.

I am just starting to feel like a gross slob. I just feel nasty bleeding for so many days. But, as long as I don't need surgery to remove a tube - that makes me happy. Also, the OB today said you will get pregnant. You just have had bad luck. Your first pregnancy you know was a chromosomal thing because it had a heartbeat and it was gone and the ectopic was just a location issue. So, that made me feel good. Even though my RE has been saying the same thing, it is good to hear it from a second person.

So, 2010 is going to be the miracle year for us!

No answers but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you are going thru this!  Ugh!  I hope the bleeding lets up soon.  :-(

With my first loss that was suspected ectopic, I bled for nearly a month.  It will end!  If you are getting anemic though, get to the doc.

Traci,

I don't know if you realize this or not, but for all you're going through right now, your posts seem remarkably sane!!!!  I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this though, and you remain in my thoughts.  I'm  glad you've had an email angel, and you have inspired me to do that for others that are going through tough times.

Anyway, I was told that it can take up to 6 weeks for your HCG to return to 0, and for the bleeding to stop.  I would assume that it should start tapering off now....but I'm not an expert.

Wishing you continued healing!

Hugs,

Jo

Thanks Jo. I am just amazed because even with my miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks I didn't bleed this long. It took about two weeks for me to bleed and pass everything since my doctor wanted me to do it myself instead of a D&C. It took another three weeks for my levels to get to <5. But this is crazy with the bleeding. Also, it is much heavier and much more painful than my miscarriage. Oh well!

Thanks for your supportive post!
