Last night around 8pm I thought Nylah was feeling real warm so I took her temp and it was 102.8. I then gave her tylenol and we went to bed. She woke me up at 4am and still had the fever 102.4, she was shaking and sweating, she kept saying pee pee so I put her on the potty and she started gagging and vomited just a very little. No runny nose, no cough. Gave her tylenol again and at 7am temp was 98.8 and she was up and happy running around. Would you be concerned? I asked her if she wanted to stay with mommy or go to her daycare and she said her daycare. She never whined, and said bye bye mommy when I left. Is that strange? I called my daycare and she said that Nylah is fine, no sign of fever and is playing. Of course then I get to researching on the internet and think she has everything LOL The closest thing I found to her symptoms was UTI, anyone's child have this? Does the fever go away that quick? Should I have her checked, I'm being a nut case.

Two Friday's ago we woke up and Libby had a 102.6 fever and I about freaked.  I was supposed to be dropping her off to my cousin because Russ was working a double that day.  I just couldn't do it.  So, I gave her Tylenol and put her back down.  She slept for a few hours and then woke up with the high fever, again.  She refuses to take motrin but thought if we went to get her a different flavor that maybe I could get her to take it.  She threw up everywhere in Target.  It was seriously nasty!!  Oh and she still refused to take the motrin.  The high fevers went on for 48 hours, she wouldn't sleep and wouldn't eat.  She would go from crying to being the happiest baby and playing, even though you could still see that she didn't feel good.  She ended up sleeping 14 hours that Saturday night and woke up Sunday perfectly fine.  It was the weirdest thing.  I had a doctors appt scheduled for Friday afternoon and then canceled it because I hate being one of those Mom's that takes my child in for every little thing.  I am glad I didn't take her in since she ended up being fine.  I still have no clue what was wrong with her.  I am wondering if maybe it was her teeth (although that doesn't explain the nasty vomit) because her gums were so swollen you could barely tell she had 2 top teeth.  We did rub a little jack on her gums and WOW that made a HUGE difference in her attitude, bit scary that she liked it though LOL  So, I would say that if she is fine now, then don't worry for the time being.  If her fever starts again then reassess.  My doctors office told me they don't normally worry until the child has had a fever for a few days.

Thanks for your reply. I just have to make the best decision at the time. Finances are tight with me just returning from maternity leave and have no sick or vacation time available. I still have to pay for daycare whether they go or not but if I take a day off right now its not paid, so I pay but don't make anything. It is such a hard call when you have to work full time and take care of little ones. I want to quit somedays but others I don't want to stay home every single day. Part time would be nice

Oh how I know the feeling.  I wish we were in the position where I could work part time.  I wouldn't be able to stay home full time cause I would go crazy and probably spend too much money wanting to do things.  Part time would be nice though.

Glad I am not the only one who works full time with little ones. Do you have Libby in a daycare center? Mine go to a home daycare and I am contemplating switching them to a center (better for structured learning) since ours is a CDC. But in the CDC I worry about too many germs and bad behaved children. I such a paranoid person! It stinks!

Libby doesn't go to a day care center, but I have also thought about switching.  Russ works 2nd shift, I work 1st.  We use my cousin for a short period of time during the day when Russ is going to work and I am finishing up my shift.  Like starting next week she will be there M-F 3-4:30pm.  Not bad.  My cousin is always on the go though and with Libby getting older I think interaction with more than just my cousins kids would be nice.  I go back and forth.  We want another baby and I don't want to leave my cousin hanging and then have another baby and then ask her to watch my kids again.  You know?

I completely understand, we were going to use my sister because of convenience, she doesn't work and even if I paid her $200 a week for both that would save me $400 a month. But then we decided that they especially Nylah being almost 19 months needs interaction with other children and a CDC looks like a mini school for toddlers (I Love it) And I must say if I didn't have another baby Nylah would have already been going to the CDC. I dont like the CDC infant room, the reason being it is two adults to 8 babies, I dont feel like that would be enough attention for my little one thats why I like home daycare for infants its more loving enviorment, but I am not taking them two different places. I decided to wait until next year when the winter is over and then move them both. Well it's such a short period of time I'm sure she wouldn't feel left hanging, not like that is her ft job
