Stress and Anemia

So heres the short version of the story. Our exchange student who has been with us for the last 6 months has apparently going about my neighborhood (I live in a very tight gossipy litle neighborhood) telling people that there is "no food" in my house. Now, despite both being post-op, my husband and I keep the house absolutely PACKED with food for this guy. What he's meant is that we don't have dinner hot and ready on the counter every night of the week. So instead of mentioning anything to us, he's been garnering sympathy (and dinners) from the neighbors. Needless to say I was MORTIFIED when I found out a week ago. Apparently this has been going on for 2 months now! I have just been working 12-hour nights at the hospital and picking up all kinds of extra shifts to try and save up some maternity leave. Now he is moving out but not till the 15th of Nov. The house is constantly tense and I lost 5 pounds last week. Plus I haven't been sleeping longer than 4 hours in a stretch. Now the OB says I am anemic as well. Sigh. Mostly I just needed to vent. I try not to think about the situation but It's hard when I have to endure this guy for 3 more weeks! We've tried to make peace and we cook dinner every night for him but he's still angry....of course he is.....he's been dwelling on this idiocy in silence for 2 months! I'm just tired and sad about the whole thing and want him to be gone already! My pregnancy has gone so very well so far and I don't want anything to jeapordize it now. The boy's still very active and I'm at least getting enough water but eating is VERY difficult since I was the emotional non-eater before and I suppose I still am. And  I'm exhausted but I still have to work. Please just remind me it will be okay and to hang in there.

Well that's such a nice thing you guys did by taking this guy in the first place.....he should learn to be more resourceful!

I'm sorry about the added stress, but Nov.15th will be here before you know it!  ;)  Keep your chin up!

He sounds like a big baby. I would not let him get you down. Just take care of yourself and baby and forget the extra. Keep eating as you can and hope that the next few weeks go fast!!! I was anemic for awhile too but its been getting better. Just keep your head up. Dont let anyone make you feel bad over something like that. He sounds old enough to make his own things. My boys dont cry if I dont have a hot meal everyday. They go make theirselves something and move on and they are only 15 and 11. Couple weeks left girl!! You can do it!!!

My mom has had exchange students before. In fact you took one in who did not get along well with the family she was with. I think if you call the organization who runs the program and tell them what has happened and what he has been up too, they may take him off your hands early. He sounds very ungrateful to me.

I'm not sure where he is from, but my husband is from Peru and still tells people I never cook for the same reason! It irritates me after nearly six years of marriage. I am not his mother who slaved over a stove all day every day. I understand your irritation. He does sound very ungrateful. It's part of the cultural experience to realize that there will not always be a little woman cooking for a man at home. That's what I would tell him. Good luck with your medical issues! I hope you can resolve them fast!
