Well then does it get better after that? I also have a 2 month old so I guess I got about 3 more years of this? YIKES!

No advice.  Just hand in there sweetie.  Get ready and hold on....the real tantrums haven't even started yet......lol

Check amazon.com for some really good books on raising toddlers

I think you handled it very well.
I have gone through this with three children, it does get better with time. If we are at home I let them throw their fit but they have to go to their room to do it. I just take them down there and tell them when they are done they can come out. I do not shut the door. The when it is all over and everyone is calm I gave them words. You were angry because........ After a couple of time they got the idea that when they are mad their room is a safe place to go and cool off.  My nine year old will still walk to his room when something is bothering him. Now he has a journal he writes in when he is there. As for in the stores when my daughter was 2 we were at the grocery store , I had a full cart and she started in so I took her and my oldest who was 4 at the time and we left. I left the groceries and we went home. Then I went back by myself and shopped later. That is the only time I have had to do this and my kids are now 9,7 and 4. Good luck and remember this too shall pass.

Oh, just wait my friend!!  LOL!  Kellen is 2 and a total HELLION.  He can be so sweet and good and then this switch happens like Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde.  OMG, it is UGLY.  If you just ignore it, then they tend to last NOT as long.  But don't feed into them.  If they know they are getting your goat, they will continue.

Good luck!  I soooooooo feel your pain!

Personal question for ya....

how do you like Washington State? DH wants to live there I believe near Bremerton during his 3 year shore duty tour in 2011. I heard the weather is terrible and it rains alot. Any input?
