Hospitals to crack down on induced labors
I am soooooo happy to have read that. I know many do not agree but I think the medical world is intervening too much in a natural process. Yes sometimes people need to be induced but many times doctors are buying time. Maybe their trying to get home for a show and you've been in active labor (but not dilating fast enough) for 15 hours...they say lets start pitocin. The mothers blood pressure rises a little, lets induce or lets do a csection. The Dr. is going on vacation a week before your due date..lets schedule an induction before they go. I think that's absolutely absurd and crazy. I already know childbirth isn't going to be a bucket of joy ****il baby arrives), I expect to be in labor for at least 12+ hours being a FTM, I know I will be uncomfortable, but hell that's life. I refuse to be induced or have ANY medical interventions unless absolutely necessary and I wish the medical world would not allow medical interventions so easily because half the times they aren't even needed.
BTW...did you know that you DO NOT have to tell your doctor when your water breaks unless their is blood or meconum (sp) present. By doing so, you are putting yourself on a timer for when you have to deliver in their eyes (and its usually within 24 hours). I did not know this until I hired my doula.

I totally agree. One of my biggest regrets with my first child is rushing to the hospital as soon as my water broke. I should have just stayed home and relaxed for a while instead of getting poked and prodded immediately. I got put on pitocin right away because I wasn't having contractions. Of course I ended up with a c-section.
Maybe I would have ended up with a c-section anyway, but it would have been nice if I could have let nature take it course for a while.
I have read a lot since then. Also, my sister-in-law had a terrible experience with her first child. She also had a c-section. For her second child she had a UBAC - unassisted home both. It was a great experience for her (I'm not quite that brave!). She is training to become a doula now.
