One of my favorites is Runaway Bunny.  Alex would just eat the books for the longest time.  Now he likes any books with Thomas, Barney, or Seasame Street characters.  We have several that we read just at potty time.

I love children's books and my children love books too - great question!  The classics are good - Goodnight Moon, Seuss, Love You Forever, etc.  There are also many good poetry books - some silly, some serious - for kids.  My children like those a lot, and when they were little, they seemed to like the sing-song type of rhyming even though they didn't understand the words.

Some of my favorites are:

For infants, Pat the Bunny series.  They are sensory-related stories and offer board book styles that are easy for little hands to hold.

Eric Carle is another favorite, and after meeting him at my son's school, I came to really appreciate his style even more.  Bright colorful illustrations, simple stories but deep meanings:
