Josiah is going to be 1 on Sunday :sigh: and I was wondering if you all could share some of your birthday traditions? I would love to start something now and carry it on for the years to come...

A friend of mine is starting a memory book for her daughter who was just 1. Her & her husband plan to write a letter to their daughter every year and keep it in a book for her. I love that idea...

I hope you all have a great week!

Hugs,
Erika

Sorry- we are boring. LOL.  But we did take a permanent marker and mark her height at her first birthday.  We plan on doing it every year, until she wont let us.

We started measuring Josiah around 8 months on the side of his bookcase/toychest. I definitely plan to keep that up! Thanks!!

We didn't start any yet.

The only tradition we have going so far is the Christmas Eve fugtrocious PJ event.   Last year we gave each other PJ's to unwrap and wear that night.  The uglier the better.  LOL

The kids PJ's were not that ugly though.

I have always gotten new jammies for christmas eve. I let my kids open ONE gift christmas eve, and they always whine because they KNOW it's jammies.......LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

We do that with the kids... except they aren't ugly.  LOL  When they were littler we would have "The Elves" drop them off at the house while we were out looking at lights.  One year we even had the Elves leave a message on the answering machine.  Now the kids are too old, except for Sydie.  So we will do it again this year anyway... I think next year she will really understand what we're talking about.

Tomorrow is Sadie's 3rd birthday...can't believe Josiah will be 1 already WOW.   I started this back when my older kids were little.   Their birthday is their day so I let thim pick either a place to go out to eat or their favorite food for mom to cook.  So far with Sadie we've done lunch with her each year.....she says she wants pancakes tomorrow LOL.  I've taken the day off each yr so far for her birthday and spent the whole day doing fun things with her.   This yr daddy was able to take it off too.   We're going to do a movie and out to lunch.  I will also spend some time updating her baby book.  I absolutely love the writing a letter idea....might not be too late to start that one.

That is great that you both got to spend Sadie's b-day with her. I don't think I could go to work on Josiah's b-day... Thank God his b-day is on a Sunday this year. :-) When he gets older I think I will definitely let him choose what he wants. Thanks!
