What are your birthday traditions?

For a small age, I didn't have a tradtion. But as soon as they can comprehend, I let them choose ANY dinner they want for thier birthday.

My oldest have requested things like pancakes, hotdogs, mac & cheese, candy (ugh), and all sorts of various things. My only rule is.........the birthday child gets to PICK anything they want. And I cannot say no.

Now they ask for steaks and shrimp, ahh I miss the cheap hot dog days! Riley's next birthday will be the first she gets to pick. So the goofy foods will start all over again, I am sure.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Skyler just turned one but, with Savannah........we have always given her, her birthday presents on the day she was actually born, her birthday!  Along with dinner and a tiny small cake.  It's not something we planned its just what we have ended up doing every year.  She gets all the hooplah at her actual party!  I also save the candle off the cake every year!!!

For Christmas....we do this little thing that we started when my step daughters where little.  We call it "Christmas Eve Gift" on the day of Christmas eve...doesn't matter what time of day or when.  Whoever says "Christmas Eve Gift" gets to open one that night before milk and cookies for Santa!

Little Josiah...1 year old...wow!
With Emad each year I have gotten a special card in addition to the *normal* one that we write in and will save it....even when he is old enough to read them I may still do one separate as a continued keepsake and maybe at age 16 or 18 present them to him. I also keep some of the party items like the decor (napkin, candle, etc) to save for a keepsake box. This year I took a pic of him at the time he was born 1240a.m so he was exactly 2 yrs old but not sure if that will stay consistent...not a great time for pics! LOL

I made a plate at this place called Creatopia and I had my son put his hand prints on it for his 1st b-day.   The plate says happy birthday with a cake on it.   Now every year that his special plate that he gets to use the day of his b-day.    Cheezy but cute. :)
