Well, I guess we are all going to eat crow in the house.   No, we don't have swine flu.  I was so anti H1N1 vaccine (and seasonal flu shot), but I think I have changed my mind.

After talking with many people and getting what I feel is the best advice from a dear friend who is a Dr., I think we are going to get it.  He put it like this, it would be the equivalent of not wearing your seat belt because one person got a spinal cord injury from wearing a seat belt.   Now we just need to cross our fingers and hope we don't get it before it becomes available to us.   I'm just freaked out (thanks to my loving husband) about Maryn getting it and the kids getting it.

After the ass scratcher incident, I think that set us over the edge.  That and the massive school closings in our area.   I don't know if we are doing the right thing, but I would feel even worse if we got the flu.

It is scary trying to figure out what is best.  I had Hannah scheduled to get her H1N1 Friday, but she had strep so we'll have to try again next week.

I can't believe the rudeness of the butt scratcher!

Julie, I was back and forth too. They offered it at school for my older 2 and I declined. Now I want them to get it and have to schedule it myself.

I get my Nasal H1N1 this week through Employee Health at work. And I hope I dont' regret it. It's the "live" one.

It's so hard to decide these things. And no matter which decision we make, we will second guess ourselves. We are moms and it's what we do.........LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Josiah goes for his 1 yr appt next Monday so I am going to talk to the doctor about it... I am still on the no side of it but who knows...

It sucks having to make decisions like this... the not so fun part of being a parent.

I'm not 100% just yet.   I am so damn torn.

The own President is not vaccinating his kids.  That makes me **** my head to the side and go huh?

My main concern is Maryn and the kids.   My kids are not old enough when Maryn arrives for me to explain to them not to cough and sneeze on their sister.  I can tell them no, wash their hands, make sure they don't share toys, etc., but I cannot prevent everything.

Also, even if I get the vaccine, it doesn't 100% protect her.  Sure I will pass some antibodies to her, but not the same as getting the vaccine itself.   AGGGGHHHHH!   It's all just driving me crazy.  LOL

I am going to feel like the worst mother of the year if I stay strong and go with my first instinct to not vaccinate and we get it.

I had the vaccine last week. After how bad it's getting and all the school closings I decided it was the best choice. I tried getting the seasonal flu shot but they are all out around here. So I will get it when I can. I talked to several Dr's that my mom works with and my OB and they all told me Isabella and I would be fine to get it. The pro's out weighted the con's! Good Luck and CONGRAT****ting the 30 week mark mine's tomorrow!! YAH!! We are getting closer and closer to seeing our little girls!!

I recorded the tv show "the Doctors" today and it gave a lot of good info about the H1N1 shot and mist vaccine and I think I'm going to get it this week, if I can.   Like it said on there, you don't know who is going to get a mild case of it and who will be hospitalized from it.  Even people that have normal immune systems can get it bad and be in the hospital.   I saw a pg lady on there that died from it and delivered her baby before she passed away, so sad.

Then another lady on a local news station here got so sick with the swine flu at 6 months along, the doctors told them to choose between the health of the mother or keeping the baby and the mother possibly dying.   They obviously chose the mother and the baby was delivered and only lived for 7 minutes.  Breaks my heart...

Does anyone know if the swine flu vaccine is like the flu shot and takes 2 weeks to take full effect????  Just curious.

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!
