Ann,
((((HUGS)))) As a daycare provider I can tell you this is NOT acceptable!! I can't imagine not noticing a injury on a child. If they are watching like they should be they would notice the injury or see it happen. Don't you think he would have cried with a bump like that? I might be a way over cautious daycare provider but I'm always in the rooms with them. I have my house set up so I can always be watching or in the same room. Heck I don't go to the bathroom unless they are napping or if one of my teens are in the room watching so I can pee LOL!  I wish I was near you so I could watch Nate!! Have you thought of finding a small home daycare? I know it can be scary but he might have more one on one care. For me it's important for my child to have a bond with their caretaker. And at a center they have so many people in and out. My daycare opened a week ago and I already just love my kids! I think my parents take comfort in the fact that when they drop off the kids they come in smiling and hugging me and even wave goodbye to their parents as they leave. I know that is stuff I would look for. I haven't had a injury yet...I know it will happen...kids trip or they throw toys, you know the general stuff. But I can promise I will know if they are hurt. Good luck babe...I would be FURIOUS!!! Daycare should be an experience that when you leave you don't have worries. Or that's how it SHOULD be!! Give kisses to Nate for me!!

Thanks so much Jackie....

So happy on your new business too....yes, I wish you were in ATL to take care of my little man.....

Nathan is doing sooooooooooo much better....the bump is gone and the scratch is minimal.....so I am feeling like a little over-reacting....but oh well...they still could not tell me what happened...that is my beef....

I would consider a smaller home daycare only if I knew the person or had high references....all options have pluses and minuses which sucks...

Thanks again sweety!

Hi Ann!
I would be PISSED...like you, it isn't the fact that he had a bump or scratch because that is what happens at this age it is that no one could tell you HOW it happened. You & I have discussed the daycare before and I really think you should find another place for Nathan.

They are lucky it was you & not me because chewed them all a new ass.

Good luck... and have a great weekend!

Hugs,
Erika

Hey Friend.....

Thanks so much....and yes, we will be looking...I am picking up the search this week.....my bottome line is just tell me what happened...no one could....and of course it has gotten lots better today....oh well.....I tried to take pics on Friday night although they were not that great....

When I ran to Walmart yesterday, two little girls came up to me with a flier for a daycare that has openings not far from here....I have never heard of it though.....but am going to drive by.....the cost is $100 a week too...we'll see but it could have been a sign to me. :)

Love ya,

Ann

Ann,

You are not overreacting.  I had an incident with a home daycare provider that was caring for all 3 of my children when we lived in Richmond.  I paid her a little over $1000 a month for care.  One day I came by and picked the kids up early to go to my friends house further north.  We lived in the next neighborhood over and decided to stop at the house and clean the kids up and change them and let them potty.  Sam was walking in the house and I had m hand on the back on his head guiding him into the house and he had a HUGE golf ball size knot on the back of his head.  I called her and she said she wasn't aware of it and said I'll call you back.  A few minutes later she called and said so-in-so (the other little boy she watched who was Sam's age 3yrs) at the time said he fell off the toddler slide on the porch.

She had a house where the living room and dining and kitchen were up the stairs (bi-level maybe) and off the dining room she had a porch, so it was a 2 story porch and had lattice work all around the rails.  I asked her why she didn't know that he had fallen when he was out on the porch playing and she said she was inside doing the DISHES.  I was like guess what *itch... I don't pay you to do your dishes.  She had the boys out on a 2 story porch unsupervised with only lattice keeping them from falling off.  I withdrew my kids and made other arrangements.

I have worked for a very reputable child care center in Pittsburgh (they are closed now due to lack of funding after Sept 11th) and my children all attended there as well.  No child was ever left unattended and every scratch, scrape or bump was well documented.  Kids get hurt, there is no doubt... but there should ALWAYS be an explanation... especially if it is very noticeable.

I hope you get it figured out.

Hugs
B

Thank you so much for your insight B.....I agree, if it is noticeable...there SHOULD be an explanation....and one gal even said I saw it, I thought it was taken care of already....HELLO....ask......omg....that is what ****** me off so bad....Nathan is a VERY active little guy and all over the place so I know he gets little bumps and bruises, but I know when it happens at home...shouldn't they at daycare...I am sure after Friday they will call me on everything!!! That is fine....likely I wont be there too much longer......

hey Ann,

I also meant to tell you to go ahead with what you had planned for halloween.  I would keep things calm there like you said and just find a new place.  When you leave you can give them all of you what fors.

Poor Nathan !!

I am sorry you're having problems with the day care.  I hope you find an alternative or come to a better agreement with them on your expectations.

(Totally Off Topic)

Cooper has started watching SPROUT TV and there's a show on there called "Franny's Feet" about a girl who helps her grandpa in his shoe-fixing shop and she plays with the shoes..... I always think of Nathan when that show is on !!

Keep us updated on your decisions!
