Prenatal Vitamins and obgyns

Hello everyone-

 My first post on here! I had my RNY surgery 3/15/04 lost 140 and gained back 50 after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and now working on losing again. BUT, I'm 29 and I have the worst case of I want to be a MOMMY! My hubby and I want to start trying in January. Sooo, that means it's prenatal vitamin time. Does anyone take a REALLY great liquid prenatal that works? I have read about Natures Plus Liquid Prenatal and heard that one is good. Some of these liquid/chewable prenatals are SO expensive though!
 Also I am having a very HARD time finding a obgyn that knows about gastric bypass. I saw one the other day for a routine pap and she never heard that liquids are absorbed easier for us....hmmm... I'm stuck. When I was being tested for fibro I ran into SO many docs that had no idea about gastric bypass. Does anyone else run into this? It's impossible to find a good doctor these days. I figured by now they would know more about GBP?!

Welcome! I know I take Walgreens brand of pre-natals and just cut them in half. I had bloodwork done and my levals were fine. Once I get preggers that might be a different story.

I would start asking around with others. I would also try either calling the OB offices or your surgeons office to see what they know. As in do you have any OB's that know what they are doing or your surgeon to see if they have a suggestion. I got lucky and I have a cousin that is a nurse where I want to deliver and she gave me the name of a group that has WLS patients and that's the first thing I asked when I called.

  I take the Target brand ones, cut into pieces. IT depends on the day.Usually I just do it in half, other times I have to do it in thirds. My levels have been great so far. I usually take them at night though, so I can take a lot of time swallowing them. I didn't even bother looking for an OB who knew a lot about RNY. Instead, I educated mine, and continue to do so as needed. I just partner with my surgeon's office if I have a question and then relay the info. She's very open to it, and she did know that I absorb differently, but I don't think she knew the details. Good luck though! It would be nice to find someone who already knew.

Thanks girls! I'm going to preinterview the next obgyn office :) But, I agree that I have to educate them too. I'll check out walmart and target too.
