37 Week Update
Hi Ladies--
Oh my goodness, I'm at full-term this week and almost in a state of disbelief. It's been a loooooong road since my IVF in February, a journey I wouldn't trade for all the money in the world. Only 9 days until BB's arrival on Friday, 10/30.
At today's OB appointment, all continued to check out just fine. Baby scored 8/8 on his bio-physical profile and we got a cute face shot on the ultrasound. The tech told me that Baby Boy (BB) measured 6 lbs., 10 oz. I corrected her and said "Oh no, I'll be having a 6.5 pounder next Friday, so he can't be 6 lbs. 10 oz." She laughed and said that for the most part, their estimates are on the higher side and that I very well may have a 6.5 pounder next Friday!
My vitals are great, weight gain is a total of 26.5 lbs., and my cervix is long and closed...just the way we like it! My NST went well and really helped to put my mind at ease since my contractions have been hurting a lot more lately. It's good to know that they are just BH and nothing to be concerned about at this point. I have already gotten the seasonal flu shot and have a date to get my H1N1 next week. For me, this is a good thing, and I'm glad to know it'll be taken care of before the baby arrives.
Overall, I feel ready for the baby. Not completely prepared...but ready enough. Having met the pediatrician and also taken a breastfeeding class this week, I feel a lot more confident on all fronts. The Lactation Consultant (LC) who taught the class will be working the day of our c-section. So, it's nice to have met her already....full clothed! Most likley, I'll be a bit more exposed next time I see her. Thanks for all your responses to my post about whether to bring a BF pillow to the hosptial. Based on your responses, I will be bringing both the Boppy and My Breast Friend pillows with me. Hospital bags are already packed and good to go.
The nursery is painted and the new wooden molding in place. Tonight, energy-willing, I will be painting an accent stripe on the walls. Nursery furniture will arrive on Friday and then I can spend the weekend washing all the bedding and clothing. (So far, I've only washed the newborn clothing for BB.) I'm looking forward to getting the nursery in order. As a creative type, I look forward to seeing how it compares to the vision I've had in my head all these months. Of course, I will post photos when it is ready.
My good friend (and former college roommate) who had her baby girl last week was released yesterday. Baby is doing well and my friend is finally recovering from her complicated c-section. I will be visiting her tomorrow (assuming she's up for it) and be bring a stash of food. Right now there's a lasagna in the oven with her name on it! It's crazy to think our babies will be 2.5 weeks apart or less considering they were due to be 5 weeks apart.
I have good news/bad news on BB's name. The good news is that he has one...the bad news is you'll have to wait until he's born to find it out! The name meets our long list of criteria and is one he (and we) can live happily with.
Wishing everyone a great evening,

Paula, I'm in tears!!! Of course, I've been emotional this week, but still. I know how much you've been waiting for this day and I've been cheering you on, even if in private, the whole way. I'm so very excited for you!!! I SO can't wait to see pictures of both the nursery and of precious BB. 10 days...wow, I'm going to be stalking these boards!! I hope your c-section goes well, and that you'll have a quick recovery.
For Mom, and Kelly

Oh my gosh, that seemed like it flew right by! Well not to you of course, but to me it did. How awesome for you, and way to go on being so organized, it will feel really nice when things start happening fast and furious!

Exciting! You have done a wonderful job at baking your little man...not much longer now. I cant wait to read about him- it will be days just before my little lady arrives. I announced this morning BING- I have baked my full term little lady. I will serve her the 2 week eviction notice today- noting of course that is a firm 2 weeks no early evauations will be acceptable. Good luck- and you are amazing - still motivated to paint stripes...I barely want to haul my own butt around the house and play with my toddler.
